2024: Logistics Consulting Project Completed
On May 17, 2024, the company AXELOT announced the completion of the project logistic consulting for Belarusian the manufacturer "." agricultural machinery SEMI
According to the company, the POLYMYA enterprise works both with small farms and with large private and state agricultural holdings in Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, the Baltic countries, Spain, Moldova. The technical level of the manufactured equipment complies with European standards. As of May 2024, the company is developing its own supply network, in connection with which there was a need to expand the warehouse.
To solve this problem, the company's management planned the construction of another warehouse, the design of which was entrusted to AXELOT specialists. Before starting work on the concept of the warehouse, the project team conducted a survey of the existing warehouse. The analysis showed that the warehouse of the company "POLYMYA" requires comprehensive modernization: the available areas for storage of materials are extremely insufficient, lifting and transportation equipment does not meet the requirements of cargo processing, a large volume of operations for the movement of goods inside the warehouse does not regulated. In addition, the storage conditions of spare parts and mechanisms in existing warehouses do not ensure the preservation of the proper level of quality of stored goods. Freezing, freezing, rust coating bring additional production costs to the company. These and other shortcomings in the operation of the warehouse complex were taken into account when developing the concept of functioning of both the under construction and existing warehouses. Work on the project began with the creation of a plan for the construction of the room.
When developing the architectural and construction concept of the warehouse, the emphasis was placed on the effective placement of the building on the existing land plot. All routes of movement of vehicles around the territory, proximity to adjacent buildings, fire safety standards were taken into account. All necessary auxiliary rooms and areas are provided, including administrative and household complex for warehouse personnel.
The project was prepared in close cooperation with the customer's team - for this purpose, the management of the POLYMYA company attracted construction designers from their own staff. This made it possible to immediately develop a solution that meets the standards and technical regulations in force in Belarus.
The warehouse to be designed shall in the future contain the materials from the 11 existing warehouses and thereby unload them. AXELOT specialists reviewed various warehouse topology diagrams, made calculations and determined on the basis of data on the planned storage volumes the optimal number and types of rack systems - front, console and shelf on the mezzanine, outlined their location on the diagram and dimensions.
At the time of product verification, almost complete absence of weight and dimension characteristics was found in the reference books. Together with the customer, it was decided to use the procedure for calculating storage locations in the warehouse based on the real number of storage locations at the time of the examination with size profiling. Thus, the specialists have worked out in detail the system for calculating the size of cells and their placement options, which provides the "flexibility" of the warehouse from the point sight of storage organization depending on the business tasks and covers the need for both the number of cells and their volume.
During the work, the AXELOT project team calculated the required number of personnel and equipment, prepared recommendations on the types and number of specialized lifting and transportation equipment. These recommendations will cover all customer's cargo processing needs.
To improve the efficiency of the warehouse, AXELOT specialists worked out all the routes of movement of employees and equipment, included in the concept several acceptance and shipment fronts for automobile heavy vehicles of side and rear unloading/loading, as well as low-tonnage vehicles.
The lack of detailed technical regulations greatly complicated the work of the warehouse - employees spent too much time on each operation, staff adaptation took a long and difficult time, the company suffered serious temporary and financial losses. The solution to the problem was the development of warehouse business processes from scratch. Thanks to this The customer will be able to reduce the time and number of personnel for each operation. In addition, the process charts of the main and auxiliary business processes fully meet the requirements of the future WMS implementation project.
The result of the joint work of AXELOT and the company "POLYMYA" was the functional concept of the warehouse with an optimal topology diagram, personnel and equipment routes and process algorithms.
