On October 9, 2025, Gazprom entered into a cooperation agreement with Crypto Energy. We are talking about joint projects for the deployment of data centers (data centers), for the power supply of which gas will be used.
As noted by the chairman of the board of Gazprom Alexei Miller, the role of data centers in developed economies continues to grow. This is due, in particular, to the digitalization of various industries and the rapid introduction of artificial intelligence. Against this background, the power of data centers increases, and therefore their power consumption increases.
| Experts say that after a while, both the economic structure and the economic map of the world will change very significantly. And the main factor will be the presence of powerful data centers in the developed country, which consume a huge amount of energy. And if you even have the technology to produce and operate these data centers, and you don't have that big electricity, you stay in the back of history, "Miller notes. |
As part of a partnership with Crypto Energy, data centers are planned to be located at Gazprom's production facilities. This will give the company additional efficiency in operating production facilities. The power supply of data centers will be carried out by loading the free generating capacities of Gazprom's auxiliary power plants or using low-pressure gas from developed fields.
The placement of data centers at gas fields, as noted by Interfax, will provide a number of significant advantages. Among them are the possibility of using the existing infrastructure of the field (buildings, power grids, transport logistics), low energy costs (on-site generation reduces dependence on external suppliers), flexibility of scaling (container data centers can be quickly deployed and adapted for tasks) and reducing the carbon footprint (utilization of associated gas instead of burning it).[1]
