Energomash entered search based on artificial intelligence of ABBYY

2020: Creation of a system of corporate search on the basis of artificial intelligence

On July 29, 2020 reported to ABBYY that NPO Energomash, the supplier of rocket engines and management company of engine-building structure entering into Roskosmos state corporation put into commercial operation the corporate intellectual information retrieval system based on ABBYY Intelligent Search. Technologies of natural languag processing (NLP) as a part of the solution of ABBYY allow more than 2 thousand. the staff of the enterprise in seconds to find the necessary documents corresponding to a request on sense. The uniform access point to information helps the company to save time on data retrieval, to develop technologies quicker and to make strategic decisions on business development.

The project is implemented together with ABBYY and the technology partner of the company. Specialists created for the staff of NPO Energomash search in 1 million documents which are stored in 7 corporate systems with differentiation of access rights to information depending on the user's powers in each information system.

In the work specialists of NPO Energomash use a set of information systems among which there are Teamcenter, LanDocs, ISUP, the Galaktika ERP, Galaktika AMM, "IBD", file storage and others. In the course of digital transformation of the enterprise amount of data, stored in electronic form significantly increases and also information sources are added.

The intelligent system of search allows the staff of NPO Energomash to find relevant documents including when required information is stated in other words, for example, using hyponyms, synonyms and reductions. It became possible thanks to enrichment of the search index the linguistic information – words meanings depending on a context. For example, by search of references of "fluctuations of draft" a system will also detect technical documents with mentioning of "fluctuation of draft". The necessary information can be also written in other language other than request language. For July, 2020 ABBYY Intelligent Search supports a possibility of cross-language document retrieval in the Russian and English languages.

2018: Testing of search based on artificial intelligence of ABBYY

On November 1, 2018 the ABBYY company reported that NPO Energomash, the supplier of rocket engines and management company of engine-building structure entering into Roskosmos state corporation tests search based on artificial intelligence of ABBYY which can integrate millions of documents from 9 corporate data sources in the general system. Using ABBYY Intelligent Search the staff of NPO Energomash for fractions of a second will be able to collect and analyze all information, necessary for decision making, on finance, production, development of technologies and other significant data, – also quickly and conveniently, as in popular search services. Thus, the enterprise will save millions of working hours a year on data retrieval and documents.

One of the key purposes of NPO Energomash – to save all information on engineering competences and developments of the enterprise which is saved up from the 1930th. For this purpose it is only not enough to digitize documents – intellectual search in a big array of information is necessary. Therefore in September, 2018 Energomash began a pilot project and connected to ABBYY Intelligent Search 3 thousand documents from the internal database - it is research works, design drawings. In the nearest future employees of IT department and heads of business divisions of the enterprise will begin to use the implemented solution. Then intellectual search is going to be connected to corporate systems of NPO Energomash: ECM, PLM, to ERP, file storage and service of project management.

All staff of the company and holding will be able to apply ABBYY Intelligent Search. Using the solution the design engineer for fractions of a second will be able to find in corporate storages not only the assembly drawing and a 3D model of the necessary part and assembly, but also all technical practices, experiences and the accompanying information, having specified one of parameters – such as document title, products or several words from the technical description. The accountant officer will quickly find in an ECM system data who when and at what price ordered, approved, claimed, bought, accepted on a warehouse, issued in production, wrote off industrial equipment, services of design office or a testing complex. At the same time a system will be able to differentiate access rights of users to search results and also to consider the existing rights to an information access and to trace who what documents looked for, downloaded or printed.

Thanks to technologies of natural languag processing, documents can be looked for at the same time in Russian and English irrespective of in what language search query is made, using synonyms, an inexact words order and their admissions, to filter and sort the found information on type, the author, date and a set of other parameters and to find the most relevant data.
