Moscow region; Trade

Contractors: VimpelCom PJSC

Project date: 2024/06

Gazprom and Gazprom Mezhregiongaz in early June 2024 announced the start of installing smart gas meters equipped with universal SIM cards. The new devices will significantly increase the accuracy of gas metering and improve control over its consumption.

According to representatives of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, universal SIM cards developed in cooperation with PJSC VimpelCom (beeline brand) will ensure reliable operation of meters throughout Russia. Unisim technology allows devices to automatically connect to the operator with the strongest signal, which ensures uninterrupted data transfer.

A feature of the new system is the elimination of the influence of the human factor and the prevention of misuse of SIM-cards. Each card will be tied to a specific meter, making it impossible to use in other devices. The individual tariff plan provides for prepayment for the entire period of meter verification, which further simplifies operation for consumers.

Sergey Gustov, General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, noted that the introduction of intelligent gas metering devices will not only increase convenience for subscribers, but also strengthen control over the transmission of data on fuel consumption. He stressed the importance of implementing joint projects with VimpelCom and expressed hope for the further development of partnership relations.

Maxim Zaikov, Deputy General Director of VimpelCom, emphasized the importance of digitalization of the gas industry to improve the efficiency and safety of the operation of metering devices. He noted that unisim technology will allow smart meters to work anywhere in Russia where there is mobile communication, and a secure communication channel will exclude the possibility of misuse of SIM cards.[1]
