2022: Translating 3000 mailboxes to CommuniGate Pro

On September 5, 2022, the Rostelecom DPC company announced that it had transferred three thousand mailboxes of subordinate institutions of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia from public mail services to the domestic communication platform CommuniGate Pro. The pilot project made it possible to provide regional educational and medical institutions with official electronic addresses with a common govrb.ru domain, on which the mail and website of the Government of the Republic already worked.

Previously, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, clinics and rural FAPs registered mail in various free postal services. This approach created a threat to information security for users: there were no uniform security profiles and a password policy. All this led to the risk of leakage of confidential data from three thousand addresses.

Also, Rostelecom-Data Rostelecom DPC experts ensured parallel hybrid operation of domestic and imported mail servers: they implemented and configured network connectivity between CommuniGate Pro and Exchange. Part of the mailboxes of the Government of Buryatia will continue to work on the basis of the old server until the end of 2022.

The transfer of mailboxes of subordinate organizations is the first stage in the transition to a single domain of the republic. For September 2022, preparations are underway for the second stage, which will begin in January 2023, and the entire mail of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia will be completely transferred to CommuniGate Pro.
