The Main Radio Frequency Center (GRCC), subordinate to Roskomnadzor, has signed a ₽13,1 million contract with Angara Assistance for the supply of Xello Deception software for creating digital traps and decoys for hackers. This became known in December 2024.
According to Vedomosti, as a result of the introduction of the system, ten trap servers with hundreds of devices that simulate real equipment will appear in the GRCC infrastructure. The center will receive the right to operate the software for a year.
Rustem Khayretdinov, Deputy General Director of the Garda Group of Companies, notes that Xello Deception belongs to the Distributed Deception Platforms class, designed to mislead cybercriminals who have penetrated the protected infrastructure.
Dmitry Ovchinnikov, head of the laboratory for strategic development of cybersecurity products at Gazinformservice, emphasizes that such systems distract attackers from real goals, slowing down their actions inside the network and increasing the chances of detecting them.
According to the analytical resource CyberStage Matrix, the volume of the Russian Deception technology market in 2024 will reach ₽1 billion. The head of the CyberStage program, Vladislav Rasskazov, predicts market growth of up to ₽2 billion in the coming years.
Timofey Voronin, Deputy Director of the NTI Competence Center, points out the advantages of the chosen solution: adaptability, rapid implementation and compatibility with Russian operating systems, including Astra Linux.
Director of the Investigation Department T.Hunter Igor Bederov reports that as of March 2023, Xello Deception includes more than 30 types of decoys and 25 types of traps, which is the largest indicator on the Russian market.
Garda Deception, AVSoft LOKI, R-Vision TDP and the foreign TrapX product are also on the market. The technology is predominantly used in the financial and IT sectors to detect cyber attacks and reduce their intensity.[1]
