2022: Completion of the first phase of data exchange using the Open API

The FinTech Association on June 27, 2022 announced the completion of the first stage of a pilot project for the exchange of data between the ERA-GLONASS system and insurance companies using the Open API.

The first scenario in which the VSK Insurance House took part was the information exchange of data using the ERA-GLONASS state information system in a traffic accident.

Using the standardized API, the GLONASS insurance company-client can receive the following information from the ERA-GLONASS system on request: the date and time of the event, geolocation at the time of the event, the type of activation of the emergency call system, which is a mandatory part of the design of new vehicles (pressing the SOS button in automatic or manual mode). Such information interaction will allow insurance companies to investigate cases of possible fraud associated with road accidents.

The pilot project showed how with the Open APIs you can qualitatively improve the customer service process, as well as more effectively combat fraud in resolving controversial issues.

At the next stage, it is planned to join new participants and develop the specifications and standards of the Open API.

The use of ERA-GLONASS capabilities in this area is another example of the positive experience of the system in. automobile industries As of June 2022, the infrastructure of the ERA-GLONASS state information system, in addition to providing emergency calls in case of an accident, is used to solve various tasks of state and commercial organizations.

This is the first pilot project to share data between a financial and non-financial organization using standardized APIs, which in the future can become open. Thus, we not only tested the technology, but also piloted the scenario of the so-called Open Data, which is a development of the concepts of Open Banking and Open Finance. The more organizations can quickly exchange data in a secure environment, the more business will have the opportunity to create new technological services.
