2019: Project completion on creation of the robotic truck tractor

On November 5, 2019 the VIST Group company reported that it together with Nazarbayev Universitetom and PJSC KAMAZ completed the large international project on creation of the robotic truck tractor based on Kamaz 5490 Neo.

According to the company, the project was separated into 2 stages. At the first stage the car was partially converted and prepared for the autonomous movement by the staff of the division of VIST Group company which is responsible for the robotic systems.

On the car installed a complex of systems for ensuring the autonomous movement which considerable part is own development of the company. For the safe movement and scanning of an environment the car was equipped with lidars, radars and the system of positioning of world leading manufacturers of Continental, Quanergy, Trimble. Within the first stage tests on the special polygon located in the territory of the innovation center Skolkovo were made.

In spite of the fact that the project is rather difficult and knowledge-intensive, all assigned tasks were carried out at close interaction with engineers of VIST Group. The project team totals about 20 people, the majority of whom are students, undergraduates and doctoral candidates Nazarbayev Universiteta. The accumulated experience will become a basis for further development in the field of unmanned vehicles both regarding researches, and regarding potential generation of "know-how" and commercialization of technologies.
