The Digital Electrician system is being introduced in Moscow to coordinate the work of power grid installation teams

Customers: MOESK Moscow United Power Grid Company

Product: Rosseti: Automated Mobile Team Management System (Digital Electrician)

Project date: 2018/01  - 2019/09
Project's budget: 40 000 000 руб.

2019: Implementation of the Digital Electrician system to coordinate the work of power grid installation teams

On October 3, 2019, it became known that in one of the districts of Moscow, the Digital Electrician system began to work, designed to coordinate the work of the power grid installation teams.

So far, the system has been launched experimentally, but according to Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov, by 2023 it can be implemented in all districts of the city.

As Biryukov explains, the solution allows you to track and control in real time the parameters of the work of all participants in the process of transmission and consumption of electric energy, which in the future will reduce the level of losses in electrical networks by 18%.

The "digital electrician" is a mobile device for personnel. The solution is designed for planning the work of electrical installation teams, managing them and analyzing their effectiveness. The project is being implemented by the Rosseti holding.

The fact that the pilot of the Digital Electrician will be implemented on Moscow networks was reported in March by the head of Rosseti Pavel Livinsky. He explained that the project is designed to exclude the human factor from managing installation processes.

In April 2019, the Moscow United Power Grid Company (MOESK), which is part of the Rosseti holding, announced that it intends to start pilot operation of the Digital Electrician project in all its branches by the end of 2019. MOESK has been developing the pilot since the beginning of 2018, investments in it amounted to about 40 million rubles. The project is part of the company's five-year digital transformation plan.

As noted by Alexey Kashtanov, director of digital transformation at MOESK, the project involves equipping about 700 teams with special equipment, in which there are a total of more than 4.5 thousand electricians.

Through this system, the installers will be able to receive tasks in real time and report on their execution. It is assumed that this will help eliminate paper document flow and increase the productivity of workers by 20%. The location of team members will be determined using special movement and movement monitoring sensors. Based on this data, reports on the productivity of workers will be compiled. This should help make their work more efficient and reduce the time it takes to repair networks[1].
