As MegaFon expanded infrastructure

On October 6, 2015 the representative office of Oracle in Russia announced the choice of MegaFon company of a range of products of Oracle for increase in efficiency of the company by means of expansion of opportunities of IT infrastructure, functionality of the major systems and decrease in total ownership cost of IT.

"Rapid development of new services, universal mobilization and growth of insistence of clients dictate need of upgrade of IT infrastructure of the operator and implementation of additional opportunities. That is why we have increased requirements to an IT intrastrukture. It should provide the high performance of any report types and any ETL types on the same equipment, in the same database. It became Oracle defining when choosing products from a stack. We received the predictable performance and expansibility, optimal cost, standard integration with systems sources and tools of a business intelligence. We can prepare the analytical reporting in preset time without stopping of loading of billing data" — Igor Kosyrev, the CIO, MegaFon said.

Upgrade of IT infrastructure of the operator is implemented on the basis of solutions:

• Oracle Exadata Database Machine for performance improvement DBMS Oracle
• Oracle databases of Database and options, as a part of which architecture of multiple lease of Oracle Multitenant for consolidation of databases and management of numerous databases as one,
• the Oracle Database In-Memory technology increasing performance of both analytical, and transactional applications without change of their code
• technologies of a clustering Oracle Real Applications Clusters,
• technologies of automation of diagnostics and monitoring of Oracle Diagnostic Pack,
• technologies of fine tuning and optimization of Oracle Tuning Pack
• the option Oracle Partitioning for performance improvement and controllability of objects of base of the big sizes.

The Oracle Exadata Database Machine X5-2 complex is selected as a basis for creation of the new data warehouse from the central office of the company. In it reliable information about the financial performance of the company consolidated on all branches gathers that will allow to analyze in details not only sales processes, but also behavior of subscribers on the basis of initial data from all eight macroregions of the territory of presence of the operator. Application of the "intellectual" option Hybryd Columnar Compression will allow to reduce requirements to the volume of storage system of historical data.
