The Softline company completed implementation of the production portal on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 platform for Naryanmarneftegaz LLC. Employees of the customer received the uniform information resource which allowed to increase communicative efficiency, to provide the high level of availability of information and to organize work areas of divisions.
Naryanmarneftegaz LLC formed in Naryan-Mar (Nenets Autonomous Okrug) in December, 2001 works in the field of complex mastering and operation of oil and gas fields in the Timano-Pechorsky oil-and-gas province in borders of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In 2005 the company underwent structural changes: based on the existing enterprise the joint venture in which control is exercised on a parity basis, 50% for 50%, of Russian Lukoil and the American Conoco Phillips was created. Creation of joint venture and existence of territorially remote offices complicated internal communications between employees, knowledge of personnel of external and internal activity of the enterprise decreased. For more effective interaction of divisions the company management made the decision on implementation of unified information environment. For the solution of assigned tasks specialists of IT service addressed to the Softline company which since 2004 is successfully implementing portal projects.
Until implementation of the project in Naryanmarneftegaz LLC there was no tool providing internal communications in a type, convenient for work of users. On the basis of the technical specifications provided by the customer, specialists of Softline company implemented the project on the business platform for joint work of Microsoft SharePoint 2010.
The portal was unrolled for work in two territories – at the central office and Oil field No. 3. Data transfer rate between servers did not allow to create a uniform farm therefore specialists of Softline changed system topology, having unrolled two farms with identical settings and having configured synchronization of data. Updating of information was performed depending on priority – once information necessary in operational work was per hour updated, and at night Windows Server starts complete replication at the level of SQL servers.
At the initial stage 50 nodes – separate for each division were created. In joint venture not only Russian-speaking employees therefore also the English-language version of the portal was required work. Standardly SharePoint maintains multilingualism only of system menus therefore specialists of Softline developed PowerShell script which allowed to automate the translation of all interface into English. Also for reduction of possible errors and saving of time during creation of new nodes for departments of the customer specialists of Softline wrote the special algorithm which allowed to automate this process and to manage all collection of nodes.
Roman Romantsov, the Head of Department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company, notes: "Naryanmarneftegaz company the complete solution allowing to increase efficiency of joint work of employees, to provide operational informing personnel and to consolidate information in a uniform source was required. The internal portal based on the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 platform became such solution".
The portal was configured under requirements of the company and became a uniform information and communication resource for the staff of all branches. Having integrated in itself file storages, searching tools, working applications, the portal increased employee performance, having provided them with direct link and having allowed to collect working information in a uniform source. Using opportunities of the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 platform specialists of Softline organized the personalized data access according to functionality of employees. It allowed to limit confidential information from unauthorized access and to protect a trade secret. On the portal function of the publication as official news, administrative declarations, and illumination of informal aspects of life of the company was configured.
The control group of office-work, group on public relations, services of the deputy CEO for operational questions and the deputy CEO for labor protection, the security regulation and environmental protection and different production divisions constantly work with the portal.
According to users, thanks to a new internal information resource of communication between the staff of different divisions of steel more effective, convenient information representation reduces time for search of colleagues and gives complete understanding about activity of divisions.
The most popular sections are News, libraries in which orders, orders, minutes of meetings, corporate prototypes and forms, Phonebook are published.
Habarov Dmitry, the head of information technology, administrations and communications of Naryanmarneftegaz LLC, tells: "The portal based on Microsoft SharePoint 2010 is convenient both for the IT specialist, and for the normal employee. For the administrator it is the convenient designer allowing quickly and it is rather simple to work with content in the familiar Office environment – to add and edit sections and even structure of the portal. For users it is the uniform platform for communications and joint work facilitating interaction of staff of remote offices. Consolidation of solutions for support of joint work based on SharePoint 2010, certainly, promoted performance improvement of work of staff of the company and its IT personnel".
