NSU organized access to the digitized scientific resources of the library

On November 24, 2016 the Xerox company announced implementation of Full Text Digital Library of Xerox technology ("PEB Xerox") in scientific library of Novosibirsk State University.

Since 1991 in NB NSU the electronic directory works, since 2005 the automated library information system (ALIS) "Ruslan" works.

The library needed to organize the centralized access to the digitized scientific and educational and methodical resources online.

Project Progress

In the course of the solution of a task created a full text digital library on the platform of the software package "PEB Xerox". This building block solution is intended for loading, attribution and storage of electronic copies of printing editions.

Representatives of Xerox company trained library workers in skills of management of PEB Xerox. The solution is integrated with the ILS "Ruslan".

Project Results

Before start the stage of trial operation is carried out to work. For November 24, 2016 more than 1 thousand full text resources are loaded into a system.

The publication of electronic resources on the website allowed us to create essentially new environment of service of readers and to expand cultural space of library. Thanks to modular architecture the software package "PEB Xerox" can successfully be integrated with any library infrastructure. At the same time the solution reliably protects electronic resources from unauthorized copying even at the online publication. We are sure that these and other advantages of the implemented solution will help Scientific library NSU to attract new readers and to make scientific and educational information more available.
