2019: OpenText Exstream implementation

On January 20, 2020 there was information that the head of department of support of integration solutions of Rosgosstrakh Alexander Shigera shared experience of use of the OpenText Exstream system in Rosgosstrakh.

Modern insurance business is a big range of different offers for the most wide range of clients when using different channels of interaction with consumers in the conditions of dynamically changing environmental conditions and emergence all of new technological capabilities, the head of department of support of integration solutions of Rosgosstrakh Alexander Shigera claims. Even if to consider only one type of insurance, then it is necessary to consider that data, necessary for it, are delivered from several IT systems and via different channels of work with clients (directly at offices of insurance company, through the partner companies, through individual agents and so forth). In this situation even for small correction of a format of the final document (the agreement on specific type of insurance) the team of five-six IT developer should work a lot of.

As Alexander Shigera told, need to automate process of formation of printed forms of documents using data from several IT systems in the company ripened for a long time, but this task acquired special relevance in 2015 when there was an opportunity to conclude policies of the CMTPL in electronic form.

"Transition to electronic rails allows to increase efficiency of process of preparation of documents, but its bottlenecks including connected with correction of formats become visible here. At the same time we understood that we need technology reliable and well scalable (it was talked of the most mass type of insurance), simple in implementation and operation, but at the same time having broad functionality because afterwards we wanted to extend experience of the CMTPL to other types of insurance",

As possible options was considered by software from different suppliers, but a final choice was made for benefit of a shrink-wrapped software product of OpenText Exstream as:

  • OpenText actively develops the Exstream platform, constantly releasing releases;
  • Software is cross-platform and is deeply integrated with other products OpenText and also with business systems of such suppliers as SAP, Salesforce, Oracle, Microsoft;
  • clear documentation allows to unroll and set up the solution quickly;
  • ease of use when forming templates of printed forms;
  • high performance with small quantity of errors.

For benefit of OpenText Exstream played also the fact that the product was already familiar to an IT command of Rosgosstrakh as earlier in the company the small project for one of specialized types of insurance was implemented. Considering the available experience, it was decided that the project will be executed by internal forces of IT department without involvement of external contractors.

"Delivery of licenses was executed by our IT partner — LANIT company which specialists together with the staff of vendor organized training of our developers, colleagues from the European support helped us with the choice of system architecture and setup, and in two months after start we received the working service. But before applying the created IT service to the CMTPL, it was tested on more specialized type of insurance — from a sting of a tick. Also the corresponding stress testing of service was held",

The general scheme of work of service at execution of the CMTPL looks simply:

  • the client independently fills a form on the website of Rosgosstrakh;
  • all necessary inspections on correctness of its filling are carried out, then data in the XML format are transferred to OpenText Exstream;
  • OpenText Exstream creates the document on the basis of a template and the received XML-data;
  • the electronic document is signed by the electronic signature Command Center;
  • the signed document and the file of the signature go to storage of Rosgosstrakh and to a personal account of the client;
  • to the client, if he wants that, printout of the policy in paper form is issued.

The project was executed by forces of the internal command, at the initial stage consisting of six people: the technical lead, three developers of printed forms and two engineers who were engaged in installation and setup of the equipment. The operating experience of the solution confirmed results of stress testing: a system has high rates on fault tolerance, on scaling and on performance stock. On technical support 10% of working time of one specialist leave, six people are engaged in development of printed forms, at the same time the full stroke of creation of a new template of the policy (from technical specifications to a ready-made product) takes no more than one week of one developer. Process of implementation of new templates is fulfilled and sufficiently unified that allows to put into operation them in short terms, without violation of the working processes. In case of emergence in Rosgosstrakh of a new IT system all questions on its integration with OpenText Exstream are solved quickly and accurately according to the available instruction.

As Alexander Shigera reported, using this service based on OpenText Exstream for January, 2020 in Rosgosstrakh the full stroke of issue of the electronic policies and different accompanying documents including connected with losses is performed. More than hundred templates are developed and is used, and all in a year over 40 million documents form.

For January, 2020 the project continues to develop, the company is going to expand scope of OpenText Exstream in the work with orientation to possibilities of upgraded versions of a product. According to Alexander Shigera, OpenText Exstream 16 is of interest in respect of advanced functionality of its integration with other products OpenText and solutions of third-party producers. Also improved work with QR codes, a possibility of interactive changes of forms and expanded support of Common Asset Service will be useful.[1]
