Otkritie bank upgraded IT infrastructure

On May 24, 2017 IBS Platformix announced the project of upgrade of IT infrastructure in Otkrytiye bank.

Project Tasks

The Otkrytiye bank is guided by the high level of customer service, offering relevant and qualitative financial instruments to small business, private and corporate clients. As a result of merges of several banks in one availability of services improved, and the overall level of service raised. But at the same time IT infrastructure of bank became heterogeneous, besides all IT ecosystem of bank significantly exchanged that in the long term could become the reason of loss of controllability and flexibility. In this regard we planned updating of infrastructure of data storage and the system of terminal access. Increase in transparency of ownership of IT infrastructure was the main objective of the project. For its solution the reliable partner with the high level of examination as the guarantor of high-quality execution and the advanced IT solutions designed to improve IT services of bank which use both employees, and clients was required for us. Upgrade assumed regeneration of storage systems in the data processing centers of Otkrytiye bank located on eight platforms in the different cities of Russia. On start of the project a system represented 149 arrays of data storage from different producers and different service life: from 5 to 15 years. The heterogeneity of storage systems complicated process of control of operational parameters, besides, in some segments of storage systems resources under information systems were duplicated.

Project Progress

For upgrade of DWH created a project team from bank representatives Opening, HDS and IBS Platformix. Experts of IBS Platformix conducted a preproject research and the analysis of a configuration on the basis of which they developed the plan of data migration, planned a target landscape and defined structure of the necessary equipment. As the technological solution are selected by DWH of HDS of family G – G200, G400 and G600.

IBS Platformix delivered storages on all DPCs of bank. The equipment was installed by experts of HDS, data migration was conducted independently by the customer's IT specialists.

Improving controllability IT infrastructure, project participants integrated the systems of terminal access of bank and organizations which entered into its structure, by means of Citrix XenApp 7.6 Feature Pack 3.

Within the project experts of IBS Platformix developed the concept, carried out pilot start on section, designed, implemented, tested and put the system of terminal access into operation.

Project Results

The Otkrytiye bank integrated in a common information space infrastructure of DWH from 39 arrays of data storage. The transparency and controllability IT infrastructure increased:

• due to gaining access to uniform command center and monitoring,
• due to simplification of administration and technical support of the equipment.

Specialists of bank noted that DWH requires less than the area, consumes less electric power in comparison with the previous system.

The external and internal appearance of banks changes, and the technologies supporting their effective work develop prompt rates. Therefore business aims to optimize the IT systems, to make them more flexible and productive, to allocate with bigger storage capacity and at the same time to save means on their service. The HDS company provided to Otkrytiye bank of the solution Hitachi VSP of family G, meeting these requirements: the bank will use systems with more flexible scaling that will allow it to achieve the necessary performance and capacity of technologies of storage and also to virtualize DWH of different producers. Clients of banks impose high requirements to service and digital solutions for financial transactions. For this reason all workflows in geographically distributed bank with a set of branches should be built taking into account mobility and a first line support of employees. Terminal solutions give the centralized access to all working applications and allow to use safely data in any place. All components of a system, including information with which employees work, regularly save and reserve so that even at emergence of a non-staff situation process of work is not interrupted. Use of Citrix XenApp technologies will raise the level of work of bank and customer service on a step. In the course of transformation the storage system of DPC (DWH) is completely updated, the system of terminal access Citrix is consolidated. It simplified infrastructure management of data storage and provided to the staff of the company the facilitated access to working applications. Upgrade of DWH increased transparency of IT infrastructure and optimized use of IT resources in scales of bank.
