On December 26, 2025, Reshetnev JSC, owned by Roskosmos, and FSUE Cosmic Communications (GPKS) signed contracts for the creation of four Express telecommunication satellites. The total value of the contracts is 65.95 billion rubles.

The general director of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov said that the signing of the agreements opens the first stage of important work. He stressed that satellites provide tens of millions of users in the country with satellite television and the Internet, communication for aviation and maritime transport, and also solve other telecommunication problems.

He described the task as large-scale and ambitious, noting that there are few enterprises in the world that can cope with it.

The satellites Express-AMU6, Express-40, Express-AMU51 and Express-AMU52 should be manufactured by the end of 2029. According to Dmitry Bakanov, the estimated service life of each device in orbit is 15 years.

The creation of satellites is being implemented within the framework of the Federal Project "Infrastructure for Access to the Information and Telecommunication Network" Internet "of the National Project" Data Economics and Digital Transformation of the State.
