After completing the project to introduce a private cloud management orchestrator in Rosbank on the open platform ManageIQ, Jet Infosystems took it for maintenance. Thanks to the accumulated expertise on Open source solutions and knowledge of the characteristics of the customer's IT landscape, the specialists of the IT company's service center not only quickly organized the process of uninterrupted platform operation, but also together with the customer participate in its development and refinement of functionality. The Jet Infosystems company announced this on July 5, 2022.

The system operates in two data centers in Moscow, covering about 40% of the bank's computing equipment.

We decided to transfer the task of supporting the third line of platform support to our IT partner, who demonstrated expertise in working with integrated systems, which include open source solutions. Support for the Open Source solution has become a hallmark of the service contract. ManageIQ administration is associated with a number of features inherent in open source solutions - their recommended update schemes do not always work properly. Nevertheless, the experts of Jet Infosystems were able to ensure the life cycle of the system and the stability of its operation, including corrections to the source code.

There are more and more projects using Open Source every year. However, after the introduction of such solutions, the issue of their operation is acute: there are not enough specialists on the market who understand the specifics and requirements of enterprise, "said Alexander Kazakov, Deputy Director of the Outsourcing and System Administration Department of Jet Infosystems. - We are purposefully developing this expertise and are ready to support any components of the IT infrastructure created using open source solutions.

2021: Creating a Private Cloud

Rosbank, together with the IT company Jet Infosystems, is creating a private cloud. With its help, the bank expects to accelerate the Time To Market indicator: developers will receive infrastructure services in a few minutes and will be able to quickly create new products. In addition, Rosbank will accurately calculate the consumption of resources by different divisions, the Jet Infosystems company reported on November 29, 2021. The private cloud management platform is built on an open source software stack to reduce the payback period of an IT solution by up to two years.

As part of the IT strategy, the bank is moving from software with a monolithic architecture to microservice applications that require a flexible cloud environment.

Rosbank, in partnership with Jet Infosystems, has developed and is implementing a private cloud based on the ManageIQ open source solution. The cloud platform automatically allocates IT services that the bank's specialists select and request on the self-service portal. Within the framework of the project, a methodology for calculating the cost of services was developed, it is built into the cloud platform in the form of a billing subsystem. The Zabbix-based meter module is designed to automatically calculate actual resource consumption and prepare reports for management.

The private cloud will change the way it distributes costs. Due to accurate billing, the bank plans to switch to a payment model as resources are used (pay as you go). At the operational level, this will allow you to accurately allocate costs by business unit depending on the amount of services they used. And on the strategic - to plan the load and investment in new business initiatives.

As a result of the project, the development teams will receive the infrastructure services they need in a few minutes virtual machines : with access control, functions backup and replication, block and, file storage as well as network access to resources.

The bank's own cloud services showed a more competitive cost and high performance than the offers of external cloud providers. Therefore, today its resources are also used by other companies of the financial group Société Générale - ALD Automotiv, RB Factoring and RB Leasing.

"For our business, the speed of creating an IT infrastructure for new initiatives is critical. In just a month, the "window of opportunity" can slam shut. Therefore, cloud creation primarily supports the rapid withdrawal of new banking products. All remote banking services of individuals and legal entities are in the cloud, and we will gradually transfer other information systems of the bank to it, - said Andrei Ponomarev, head of the IaaS Rosbank department. "We've already reduced IT infrastructure costs and improved core business metrics by moving to the cloud."

Specialists of Jet Infosystems recommended that the bank also change some processes in order to get the maximum benefits from automation. Thus, the procedure for coordinating and creating resources was revised. A quota for ordering resources has been defined for IT systems and development departments. Within the budget, the provision of resources is accelerated as much as possible, and if resources are requested in excess of the quota, the approval process is launched.
