On December 9, 2019 it became known of creation in Russia of the robot who is intended for work with radioactive waste. It is the project of NPO "Android Technics".
According to TASS with reference to the chief executive of Androidny equipment Evgeny Dudorov, anthropomorphous will be engaged in utilization of garbage in radioactive canyons where the garbage with a low radiation is saved up, i.e. in storages where paper, wood, test tubes from laboratories" was reset ". The first tests of a system are planned for the beginning of 2020.
The robot will be suspended on a special arrow, in network the machine will be connected using wires. Control will be exercised using the setting suit which will transfer to the android of the movement from the operator in the copying mode. In the long term the robot will be able independently to work.
Waste using the robot will sort, process and burn. As the radiation level on similar "dumps" small, impacts of radioactive radiation on electronics of the robot is not expected, Dudorov noted.
The NPO "Android Technics" develops the robot by request of Federal State Unitary Enterprise ROSRAO which is engaged in radioactive waste. In particular, the enterprise renders services in collecting, transportation, processing and storage of waste of the low and average level of activity. Also tasks of the enterprise include treatment of spent nuclear fuel and the radioactive waste which is formed at utilization of atomic submarines and ships with the nuclear VTRs energy units of Russia.
According to Federal State Unitary Enterprise National Operator of Radiation Waste, most of all radioactive waste — more than 1 million cubic meters — are saved up in the Krasnoyarsk, Transbaikal, Stavropol regions, the Tomsk, Chelyabinsk and Ulyanovsk regions and also in Udmurtia (data for December, 2019).[1]
