"NIS GLONASS" and FGUP Russian Post signed the supplementary agreement to the agreement on creation of an automated system of monitoring of mail vehicles within which the federal operator delivered 4 thousand telematic terminals for cars and 500 for mail cars and carries out their equipment.

Background

The agreement between NIS GLONASS and FGUP Russian Post is performed since 2010, and at the moment already 10 thousand mail cars are equipped with navigation and coherent GLONASS/GPS terminals. The automated system of monitoring of transport is implemented in dispatching services of all 84 branches of FGUP Russian Post. The satellite equipment installed onboard cars allows to observe delivery dates of correspondence and to control motor transport.

By the end of 2012 all mail motor transport and cars of FGUP Russian Post will be equipped with the navigation and coherent equipment that will provide to the federal mail operator the automated control and management of mail transportations in real time.

Results

"Results of application of GLONASS were already yielded noticeable economic effect: the costs connected with operation managed to be reduced by 10%, also delivery time of mailings as cars are in real time controlled on routes decreased. The periods of idle time and inappropriate use of transport were reduced", - the press service of customer company reports.
"The system of monitoring of transport on the basis of GLONASS will provide control of movement of postal cars in real time, receiving up-to-date data about observance of routes by them, their run, duration and places of idle times, the actual fuel consumption, etc. Quickly obtained information will help to observe the time limit of transportations. The architecture of the telematic platform of JSC NIS implemented at Russian Post can service up to 20 thousand vehicles and also interact with other information management systems of the company", - the CEO of JSC NIS Alexander Gurko noted.
