Rosseti buys servers and DSS for 346 million rubles

On January 31, 2024, one of the world's largest electric grid holdings, Rosseti, announced a tender for the purchase of servers and storage system (DSS) for updating and expanding the IT infrastructure throughout Russia. It is planned to spend approximately 346 million rubles on equipment .

In total, according to CNews, Rosseti will acquire 55 servers. They must be equipped with two processors containing at least 12 cores with support for multithreading technology and a clock speed of at least 2.4 GHz. Support for DDR4 RAM in six-channel or eight-channel mode with a frequency of at least 3200 MHz with the ability to use 256 GB RAM modules is required. In this case, the servers must initially be equipped with at least 384 GB of RAM.

The terms of reference say that the customer needs 16 servers of the first type and 39 servers of the second type. The difference between them lies in the architecture of the storage subsystem: in the first case, the configuration should include four SAS drives with a capacity of at least 10 TB, in the second - four similar drives, but with a capacity of 2.4 TB.

In addition, Rosseti purchases one DSS. Its configuration should include 48 SSD 7.68 TB SSDs each with an SAS interface. The DAE must support at least 94 drives with a minimum capacity of 30 TB each.

All purchased equipment must be entered into the Unified Register of Electronic Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The equipment will be distributed between nine company facilities throughout the country: two in Moscow and one each in Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg and Zheleznovodsk, Stavropol Territory.[1]
