2021: Launch of a 50kW solar power plant at a plant in Yaroslavl
Takeda launched a solar power plant with a capacity of 50 kilowatts at its plant in Yaroslavl. This plant was the first industrial facility in the region using solar energy, company representatives said on September 8, 2021. The station has 128 two-way high-efficiency photovoltaic modules capable of generating electricity even in the absence of direct sunlight. The process of energy conversion takes place without noise and negative impact on the environment in the form of harmful emissions and wastes.
"Maintaining carbon neutrality is one of Takeda's most important sustainable development goals. The company uses rechargeable sources of electricity in 12 countries of its presence, and now Russia is among them. The solar power plant built in Yaroslavl will allow the plant to reduce carbon emissions by 18.6 tons per year. The payback period of the project will be 8 years, but we are encouraged by the opportunity to improve the ecology of the city, "said Chris Buttkus, director of the Takeda plant in Yaroslavl. |
Carbon neutrality means that emissions carbon dioxide do not exceed the amount absorbed by forests and oceans. It is necessary to slow down the destructive planets process of global warming. climate To achieve carbon neutrality, companies reduce carbon dioxide emissions using renewable energy sources (solar and), wind or compensate for them by implementing projects that promote carbon sequestration from the air and planting forests. At the end of 2019 Takeda , it was possible to achieve carbon neutrality at most of its enterprises. This was facilitated by the company's projects on the use of wind and solar energy, purification of drinking water, conservation of forests and biodiversity in the regions of the company's presence.
According to the company, the plant in Yaroslavl uses technologies that help reduce energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions to the atmosphere: motion sensors, an air recirculation and heat recovery system are installed in the factory premises, mercury lamps are replaced with LED. Each new project at the plant is evaluated for environmental impact.
Takeda's mission is to improve human health and create a better future for the planet. The environmental situation affects the state of our health, so we protect the environment in all regions of the company's presence and strive to achieve carbon neutrality in our industries. The launch of a solar power plant at the Takeda plant is a significant step in implementing the company's strategy to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2040, "said Yelena Kartasheva, president of Takeda in Russia. |
Takeda has been protecting the environment for more than fifty years. The company's approach to environmental care is consistent with the UN goals in the field of sustainable development and is formulated in the company's development strategy until 2040. By 2025, Takeda plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions at its enterprises by 40% compared to 2016, and by 2040 - to reduce them to zero.
