TKB bank constructed an IT infrastructure monitoring system on the basis of solutions of SolarWinds

On April 10, 2018 PAO Bank of TKB announced implementation of a centralized system of monitoring of IT infrastructure of bank using solutions of SolarWinds.

IT infrastructure of bank includes more than 700 virtual and physical servers, more than 3000 users. For the purpose of quality improvement of customer service, increase in efficiency of IT systems of bank there was a question of implementation of a centralized system of monitoring of IT infrastructure: server and telecom hardware, storage systems, databases.

Before the center of operation of IT infrastructure of bank there was a task of the choice and system implementation of monitoring. Several solutions were analyzed, when choosing IT specialists of bank relied on the available experience. At the disposal of the center there was a number of licenses for system modules of monitoring of SolarWinds. Forces of IT specialists of financial institution carried out installation and system testing of SolarWinds. The analysis of the solution revealed several advantages before other systems – the deployment speed, the high level of technical support, the single interface of management and also preserving of earlier made investments into licenses. It allowed to make a choice for benefit of SolarWinds.

The broad spectrum of solutions of SolarWinds allowing to close completely the tasks connected with creation of a centralized system of monitoring of IT infrastructure was purchased by bank. In particular, the product SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) which quickly detects diagnoses and resolves performance concerns of dynamic networks. The manager SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor provides agentless monitoring of performance and availability to hundreds of types of applications and the equipment. IP Address Manager eliminates the IP conflicts and saves time, managing DHCP, DNS and the IP addresses. NetFlow Traffic Analyzer provides detailed data on the users, applications and protocols consuming the most part of network transmission capacity. Network Configuration Manager provides exhaustive automated backup, change management and configurations of the equipment of different suppliers. The manager of SolarWinds of VoIP & Network Quality Manager performs monitoring of performance VoIP by the analysis of records with the detailed data on calls generated Cisco & Avaya CallManager, and helps to reveal, eliminate and exclude automatically distortions, signal delay and noises.

The Axoft company acted as the IT distributor of the project. Deployment of solutions of SolarWinds was carried out by forces of IT specialists of bank. Thanks to system deployment, pro-active monitoring of IT systems of the organization is conducted, the majority of problems in IT infrastructure are eliminated to their business impact.

Stages of development of a monitoring system:

  • July, 2016: pilot system deployment of SolarWinds is complete;
  • February, 2017: the system implementation project is successfully complete;
  • February, 2017 – April, 2018: operation of SolarWinds.

"The purpose which we set when implementing this project, – to supply on monitoring all equipment of bank – the server and telecom hardware, storage systems, databases – is reached. Thanks to the implemented solutions the centralized condition monitoring of IT infrastructure is conducted. Integration of a monitoring system into the Help Desk system allows to create automatically incidents on the arising problems. Messages about problems in infrastructure are also sent to administrators to a specialized chat that allows to react most quickly in the round-the-clock mode to incidents. Thanks to it we aim to ensure smooth operation of IT services of 24/7 bank. Our task – to provide the round-the-clock operability of the critical systems, all infrastructure should work like clock-work. The summary report of a monitoring system output on the separate monitor allows to see in the online mode a current status of all IT infrastruktry in general. If there is any problem, a system sends messages to a chat of administrators and starts incidents in the HelpDesk system, divisions of the center process them.

Thanks to the solution of SolarWinds we received the working tool which allows to manage effectively IT infrastructure of the company, to collect and accumulate telemetered informations of its objects for the further analysis and application in a capacity management process. A system allows to minimize time for search and diagnostics of problems, to react proactively to the changes happening in it and to quickly eliminate failures in IT infrastructure".
