2025: Growth of food exports from Belarus to $10 billion
The export of food products and agricultural raw materials from Belarus at the end of 2025 reached a record $10 billion. The indicator was the highest in the history of a sovereign state. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus on January 30, 2026.
As BelTA reports, food exports form a quarter of the country's total commodity exports. The agro-industrial complex is one of the key engines of the national economy.
The basis of the export portfolio is:
- dairy products - 40% of all supplies;
- meat products - 19% of all supplies.
Export geography continues to expand. Belarusian products are supplied to 116 countries of the world. The largest growth was recorded in areas and CIS Asia countries of the far arc.
The main importing countries of Belarusian food:
- Russia is the largest trading partner with a share of about 67% in country exports of goods and services;
- China is a key destination for the supply of whey, poultry, beef and rapeseed oil;
- Kazakhstan;
- countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Russia remains the main market for Belarusian food. Products are shipped to 75 regions of the federation. The main demand is observed in the Central and Northwestern federal districts. At the end of 2024, the export of Belarusian food products to Russia increased by 15.5%. The largest growth was recorded in the supply of dairy products (an increase of 17%) and meat and meat products (an increase of 16.6%).
Belarus is among the top 10 suppliers of potash fertilizers to China (3rd place), whey (5th place), poultry and beef (9th and 10th places), rapeseed oil (10th place). The main food exports to China are meat and poultry offal, rapeseed oil, frozen beef, milk and cream condensed and dry.[1]
2024: Increase in exports of agricultural products to $8.5 billion
Belarus increased exports of products of the agro-industrial complex (agro-industrial complex) in 2024 by $1 billion, bringing its volume to $8.5 billion. This was announced in early March 2025 by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Gracun.
According to Prime, the export of food products and agricultural raw materials increased by 14.4% compared to 2023, which provided additional foreign exchange revenue. Belarusian products were supplied to 117 countries, of which 19 became new sales markets.
The basis of export deliveries was:
- dairy products;
- meat;
- grain and leguminous crops;
- rapeseed;
- sugar beet.
Milk production increased by 5%, livestock and poultry - by 2.5%, cereals and legumes - by 8.8%, rapeseed - by 16%, sugar beets - by 2.2%.
Gross agricultural production of Belarus in 2024 reached 36.3 billion Belarusian rubles, which is 3.4% higher than in 2023. For the main types of food, the level of self-sufficiency exceeds 100%, including dairy products, meat, eggs, vegetables and potatoes.
Interaction with Russia in the field of agriculture also showed growth. At the end of 2024, the turnover of agricultural products between the countries increased by 15%, exceeding $8 billion. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev noted that cooperation between states is developing in various directions, including the agricultural sector.
The total foreign trade turnover of Belarus in January - November 2024 amounted to $78.6 billion. Exports during this period reached $37.2 billion, an increase of 2.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Imports amounted to $41.4 billion (an increase of 6.1%), which led to a negative trade balance of more than $4 billion.
In January - November 2024, farms of all categories produced agricultural products for 34.3 billion Belarusian rubles, which is 3.3% more than a year earlier. In agricultural organizations, production amounted to 27.7 billion Belarusian rubles, which in comparable prices is 5% higher than in 2023[2]
2023: Belarus accounted for 50% of meat imports to Russia in a year

Belarus increased exports of agricultural products and food to the Russian Federation by more than 24% in 2022, this figure reached $6 billion.
2021: Record exports
The export of food and agricultural raw materials from Belarus at the end of 2021 amounted to $6.5 billion, which was a record figure for the country in its entire history. This was announced in February 2022 by the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MARCH) of the Republic Alexei Bogdanov.
At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus clarifies that in 2021 the country supplied food and agricultural raw materials abroad in the amount of $6.7 billion, which is 117.3% more than a year earlier.
According to him, over the past six years, the export of Belarusian food has increased by 44%, including due to its geographical diversification. Earlier it was reported that Belarus in 2020 it supplied agricultural products and food products abroad in the amount of more than $5.8 billion, which is 4.3% higher than in 2019.[3]

He also noted that by February 2022, Belarus supplies its products to 116 states, which also became a record figure. Products were delivered to non-CIS countries by 1.11 billion (+ 145.1%), including export growth:
- in the countries of the European Union by 43.7% and amounted to $460.2 million;
- in Asia and Oceania by 47.1%: $507.9 million. Including products exported to China in the amount of $366.1 million (an increase of 47.9%).
- in the countries of America and the Caribbean by 42.1% and amounted to $11.6 million.
