The X5 Retail Group company owning retail chain stores Intersection, Pyaterochka and Roundabout announced in December, 2014 closing of the E5.ru online store. The representative of X5 Retail Group Vladimir Rusanov characterizes closing of E5.ru as "suspension of operating activities". He told CNews that after December 10 on-line sales within X5 Retail Group any time will not exist in no shape or form in general. Explaining this solution of the company, he said that it was accepted in connection with desire to be focused on classical offline retail, and reminded that the on-line shop and was conceived only as addition to the main sales channel.

At the end of October information on possible sale of shop to retailer Wikimart was published in the Vedomosti newspaper. By words Vladimir Rusanova, X5 Retail Group really received several offers on the future of Е5.ru, however did not make any decisions.

According to RBC in the I quarter 2013 revenue made 241.7 million rubles, and in the same period of 2014 - 333.7 million. At the same time the average bill at online store decreased: in 2012 it made i1728, in the I quarter 2013 1669.2, and in the I quarter 2014 of 1416.9 rubles.

According to Vedomosti, from the moment of opening for 2013 sales of E5 almost trebled, having reached 1.43 billion rubles, but in 2014 their growth slowed down, and in the III quarter 2014 revenue dropped by 30% in relation to the same period of 2013. For January - September, 2014 revenue of E5.ru increased by 5.5%, having made 869.3 million rubles.
