Pensando Systems is the American IT company founded by former employees of Cisco. Among them — Mario Mazzola, Prem Jain, Luca Cafiero and Soni Jiandani.

The startup develops hardware accelerators which are inserted into servers and carry out the tasks connected with network management, security and data storage. Thanks to this equipment load of the main computing node of data center can decrease by 20-40%, claim in Pensando.

History

2019: Creation of the company

On October 16, 2019 public representation to Pensando Systems company took place. Also it was announced the investment attraction in the amount of $278 million from group of investors, including Hewlett Packard Enterpris, Lightspeed Venture Partners venture capital company and venture fund of the former head of Cisco John Chambers JC2 Ventures. Chambers became the chairman of the board of Pensando Systems.

According to Reuters, software and the equipment which develops Pensando do data centers of large banks, such as Goldman Sachs Group, similar to cloud DPCs of Amazon Web Services and other large cloud providers. Goldman Sachs invested in a startup, but how many, did not tell.

Natives of Cisco created the developer of the equipment which lowers load of data centers by 40%

Cofounders of Pensando created four companies earlier and sold them to Cisco. The chief financial officer of Pensando Randy Pond reported that by October, 2019 it is not clear whether Cisco is interested in acquisition of the company. So far Cisco is going to be the client of Pensando. According to Pond, Pensando plans the IPO and considers other financing sources.

By October 16, 2019 the equipment of Pensando is installed in data centers of several largest companies from the list of Fortune 500. The market value of a startup is estimated at $645 million[1]
