Biography

Alexey Kibkalo worked in Microsoft since 2005. In France holding trainings and support of products of Microsoft in the countries of Africa and the Middle East fell within its scope of responsibility.

The employee informed a security service of Microsoft, internal investigation was initiated. Microsoft behaved uyemnogim better than the offended employee — representatives of the company without judicial sanction logged in the account Canouna on Hotmail and calculated a leak source. After this Microsoft promised that in the future will not be engaged in "arbitrariness", and will contact police.

In March, 2014 Alexey Kibkalo was delayed by the staff of FBI.

On March 31, 2014 Alexey Kibkalo accused of theft of trade secrets of the company pled guilty of district court in Seattle. According to the newspaper Seattle Times, Kibkalo could reach the agreement with federal prosecutors on which to it it is necessary to spend three months in prison and also to pay Microsoft compensation in the amount of $22.5 thousand. Final adjudgement in the matter of Kibkalo was appointed to July 1, 2014.

According to the investigation, in July-August, 2012, being an employee of Microsoft, Kibkalo distributed through own account SkyDrive the Windows 8 RT code and a packet of the Microsoft Activation Server SDK tools which the corporation uses for the system of activation. Besides, Kibkalo transferred the code created by Microsoft for distribution there is nobody the French tekhnoblogger.

The real name of the French blogger with which Kibkalo cooperated is not set yet. In community of Microsoft developers the blogger gained fame thanks to the publication of screenshots of the version of the Windows operating system which Microsoft by the time of the publication did not show officially yet.

The French blogger posted the acquired information on the websites and on Twitter. Besides, he was engaged in sale of activation keys for Windows Server on eBay. Whether it did it with the assistance of Kibkalo, it is not specified.

According to the account Kibkalo in LinkedIn, after leaving Microsoft it worked as the product director in the American company 5nine Software which is engaged in development of means of information security and virtualization.

It became known later that Alexey Kibkalo went to the transaction with the investigation and pled guilty of theft of data of Microsoft and transfer to their third party (to the French blogger under the nickname Canouna). As a result a penalty was commuted — the fine is reduced from $22,500 to $100. Kibkalo remained under arrest till June 19, 2014, this day the three-months imprisonment term expired. Then Alexey was sent to Russia.

Family

According to CNews, Alexey Kibkalo is a son of the IT entrepreneur Alexey Kibkalo from ZATO Sarov of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The father of the defendant bearing the same name held a position of the head of nowadays closed Intel development center in Sarov earlier, and in 2014 worked as the technical director in local development center of AFK Sistema company^[1].
