2018: Growth of revenue by 13% to $70.85 billion

In 2018 Intel registered the highest revenue in the history — in the amount of $70.85 billion. It is 13% more in comparison with previous year.

The division of Intel Client Computing Group within which the company develops and sells processors for personal computers received revenue in the amount of $37 billion at the end of 2018 against $34 billion in the 2017th.

In server business (Data Center Group segment) income during this time rose from $19.06 billion to $22.99 billion (growth by 21%). In the division specializing in projects of Internet of Things, revenue in 2018 was equal to $3.46 billion, and the previous year it was at the level of $3.17 billion.

In division on product output based on a non-volatile memory (Non-volatile Memory Solutions Group) income also increased — from $3.52 billion in 2017 to $4.31 billion a year later. At last, the Programmable Solutions Group group created based on the absorbed Altera company received $2.12 billion turnover for 2018. In 2017 financial indicator was measured by $1.9 billion.

The net profit of Intel in 2018 was $21.05 billion, and in the 2017th — $9.6 billion.

Profit in computer division year on year raised from $12.9 billion to $14.2 billion, and in northern — from $8.4 billion to $11.48 billion. Profit in divisions of Internet of Things Group and Programmable Solutions Group reached $980 million and $466 million respectively, and in Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group equal $5 million losses took place.

Also follows from the report that in 2018 deliveries of Intel processors for notebooks increased by 4%, and the average price on them rose by 3%. In a segment of desktops of shipment of chips dropped by 6% though the average cost of such products jumped by 11%. The release of server processors at the company increased by 13% at 7 percent increase in prices.

In Europe Intel conducts active work for more than 30 years – its first office in Brussels, is open in 1969. Since 1989 on the production sites of Intel located in Leykslip (Ireland) releases modern solutions whereas total investments for the last twenty years into this region exceeded $7 billion.

In 2009 in Europe there were about 800 scientists of Intel. For all history of presence of the company in the region the set of important developments and opening was made here. The research projects of Intel which are carried out in Europe mention a broad spectrum of areas, including chips, the Software, mobile devices, nanotechnologies and also the products capable to increase quality of life and level of health of the population.

Intel Labs Europe (ILE) program

The mission of Intel Labs Europe consists in a research, development and release of the innovative solutions based on architecture of Intel and also in establishment of strong partnership with the European shareholders for the purpose of improving competitiveness of the region. By means of ILE the Intel company is going to integrate the initiatives and future investments in the program under the name Digital Europe. A main goal of this program is acceleration of rate of technology development of Europe and the European industry, increase in its flexibility and further technology equipping.

The center of the innovative developments in Ireland - after opening of research laboratory in Munich, the similar center of open research and development of the innovative solutions was started in Leykslip (County of Kildare), Ireland. The laboratory located here, Ireland Innovation Open Lab, is a part of an initiative of construction of network of the research centers in Europe about which was announced in January, 2009. By the end of 2009 more than 30 specialists worked here.

Joint work of Intel and CERN - joint surveys of Intel and European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) are carried out from the moment of foundation of open laboratory CERN in January, 2003. In November, 2008 the parties signed the new three-year contract on joint activity.

Joint work of SAP and Intel is performed in the research center SAP in Belfast and is logical expansion of the existing partnership between two companies. A long-term goal of joint work of the parties is development of the technologies capable to facilitate effective product introduction on the Software as a Service model (SaaS).

Intel Exascale Computing Research Center - Intel, the Commission on atomic energy of France, the National agency of the high-performance systems of France and the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University agreed about creation of research computer center of Exascale Computing Research Center in Paris. In its walls the high-performance systems working one thousand times quicker than the most powerful today supercomputers will be developed.

Finland - in August, 2010 Intel, Nokia and the Oulsky university (Oulu, Finland) announced opening of a joint research and development center which was a part of the European network Intel Labs Europe including for August, 2010 already 22 centers.

The new center is located in the Center for Internet Excellence complex at the Oulsky university and integrated with the technology Oulu Urban Living Labs park which is the good environment for in-depth studies and implementation of pilot projects, said in the official statement.

The initial purpose of the first joint R&D-центра Intel and Nokia which staff will make about 24 scientists will become development of new types of interfaces for mobile devices, including 3D - holograms of the interlocutor which it was possible to see in sci-fi movies earlier. Egypt - the research center in Egypt is located in Cairo. In it software development specialists and system architecture work. The center began the work in 2005, having selected from quality of a main objective ensuring effective integration of information technologies and technologies of communication in education.

France - in Sofia Antipolise in the south of France is the group on certification of wireless products of Intel created as a result of acquisition of Shiva Corp in 1999 and which is a part of Intel Mobility Group. The team of the specialists located here represents 130 countries, executing standardization, testing, check and regular certification of the wireless solutions working with technologies Wi-Fi and WiMAX.

Germany - in Germany the research centers Intel are in Braunschweig, Munich, Saarbruecken and Ulm. In the research center in Braunschweig researches of future generations of microprocessors and computer platforms are conducted. Researches of the high-performance systems with number of computing cores from several tens to several hundred, solutions of a system-on-the chip format for mobile Internet devices and new architecture of computer memory are here too conducted. One of the key directions of the center is development of systems of emulation, the new processors allowing to reduce time to market.

The laboratory of open researches in Munich was open in March, 2009. Here both the internal, and open researches helping with creation of new models of business are conducted. In Saarbruecken there is Intel of VCI – Intel institute on a research of visual calculations. It was founded in May, 2009 and is the project, largest in Europe, organized together with the university, the Saar university in Saarbruecken. Here both the fundamental, and application studies directed to development of a new handshaking of the person with the computer are carried out. In Ulm the release of tools for software development for mobile devices and complexes on debugging of applications for the built-in solutions and applications for execution on multicore systems is performed.

Ireland - research activity of Intel in Ireland concerns search and development of new methods of production of chips. Researches are mainly focused on nanotechnologies and methods of the further embodiment of the law of Moore. Here researches of new structures of memory, technologies of independent collecting of nanoparticles, options of use of nanotubes, new options of constructions of silicon chips and so on are conducted.

In Ireland the founded Intel Labs Europe and the National university of Ireland joint institute is located. Its purpose is development of new models and implementation methods of ICT. The center is supported by unique consortium which part key players of the market, non-profit organizations and scientific communities, including Microsoft, SAP and Ernst&Young* are. Other center, TRIL Centre located in Dublin is focused on the following directions: quality improvement of life and interaction aged and also preserving of independence of those who suffer from disorders of memory. Within three years in this center it is going to invest about $30 million. One more laboratory Intel which is in Shannon and founded in 2000 is engaged in development of technologies for use in a blade servers and the built-in systems which are highly integrated compact.

Israel - the research center in Haifa was founded in 1974, having become the first center of planning and developments outside the USA. Today Intel locates in this country four centers, the development center in Haifa with departments in Jerusalem and Yakum and also the center in Petah Tikva. Most of engineers in Israel participate in development of computer processors, technologies of wireless communication, the software and technologies for entertainments. In Haifa development of new multinuclear processor architecture which could be delivered in thinner and easy devices is performed now. In Israel development of LAN controllers and firmwares is also executed. In Jerusalem the Intel vPro components, and Petah Tikva - WiMAX-solutions are developed.

Poland - the Intel center located in Gdansk is the largest in the European region. The laboratory was open in October, 1999 after Olicom Poland acquisition. The research group of the center is broken into five commands which are engaged in software development for divisions of Intel Digital Enterprise Group and Mobility Group.

Saudi Arabia - the research center Intel is in Dakhrana. Local gurus develop equipment rooms and software tools by means of which the oil and gas companies have an opportunity to develop a specialized software for researches of fields. The laboratory is equipped with the computing system based on Itanium 2 and Xeon processors.

Spain - in the research center in Barcelona opened in 2002 developments of microprocessor architecture and tools on writing of the software for future processors are executed.

Turkey - the research center founded in 2006 in Istanbul is one of eleven centers of an innovation in the world. Its spheres of work are digital technologies in health care, mobile systems, the digital house. Here development of technologies for the industry and education is performed.

Great Britain - constructed near Heathrow airport, FasterLAB laboratory is engaged in development of solutions for the financial sphere, technologies of high-performance computing and virtualization and development of standards.

The UAE - in the United Arab Emirates the Intel centers are open in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In the center of application studies in Abu Dhabi testings and optimization of products based on the solutions of Intel intended for an oil and gas sector are held. Products help the companies to look for new fields and to put on the market finished goods.
