Some Intel processors Core of the ninth generation, including, models for average and upper segments of desktop PCs, were delivered from the multithreading of Hyper Threading which is disconnected by technology which provides processing of two data streams on each physical core of the chip. The Core i5-10600 processor of a mid-price segment with TDP of 65 W will receive six cores and 12 computing flows, at the same time the basic clock rate of the chip will make 3.3 GHz from a turbo acceleration to 4.5 GHz.

It is expected that this processor will also be available in the version of Core i5-10600K with the unblocked multiplier and, respectively, with TDP to 95 W and also in economic Core i5-10600T option with TDP of only 35 W at the expense of smaller clock rates – 2.4 GHz of basic and 4.0 GHz of a turbo.

In a segment of top solutions replenishment in the form of the Core i9-10900 processor with ten computing cores and 20 computing flows is also expected. According to sources, this chip meanwhile is in the earliest engineering stage of development and meanwhile takes tests on clock rate of 2.50 GHz.

Wccftech sources also confirmed the rumors circulating earlier that Intel planned for 2020 transition to the processor LGA 1200 connector using the next generation of chipsets of series 400.

It is expected that dimensions of the LGA 1200 connector will be approximately similar to sizes of present LGA 1151 (37.5 x 37.5 mm), however contact units will be displaced to the left. Thus, present Comet Lake processors will not be compatible mechanically and electrically to motherboards under Coffee Lake chips. Nevertheless, payments under LGA 1200 will not demand the updated fixture or the updated cooling systems.

Intel focused on Apple and left Asus and Acer without processors

By its estimates, is not enough for the market of notebooks in the second half of 2018 to 5% of processors, and the problem can become "even more noticeable" in December.[3]

Cannon Lake is the first 10-nanometer Intel processor

According to the statement of Intel, Core i3-8121U works for a quarter quicker than the 14-nanometer Core i3-6006U processor. However the last has 1 MB less a cache memory and clock rate at the level of 2 GHz. And it, unlike Core i3-8121U, has no support of Turbo Boost technology, but there is built-in GPU. The cost of Intel Core i3-8121U by May 16, 2018 does not reveal yet. The producer is going to begin official sales of the processor during the second quarter. About other processors in a line of Intel Cannon Lake there is no information.[4]


Coffee Lake-S

On August 21, 2017 Intel officially announced the eighth generation of Core processors — the most powerful for computers in assortment of the company. Speaking about growth  of speed, in Intel note that users of the Kaby Lake platform will observe moderate rise in performance, and here renewing, for example, a five-year system on Ivy Bridge, will notice more than twofold gain.  According to the press release, the eighth generation of the Intel processors Core for 40% exceeds the previous solutions on performance.

The company claims that devices based on new chips will be able to work till 10 o'clock without recharge in video playback mode with the 4K-permission. One more important point is the built-in support of Microsoft Mixed Reality technology for display of content in a format of virtual reality.

In comparison with Kaby Lake-R in Kaby Lake Refresh it was succeeded to save heat release (TDP) at the level of 15 W, despite increase in number of cores. At this Intel it was forced to reduce significantly the operating frequency of chips, having increased the maximum indicator of Turbo Boost by couple of hundreds of MHz. Also It should be noted twice the increased volume a cache memory of the third level.

In addition to Kaby Lake Refresh, the eighth generation of the Intel processors Core will include the Coffee Lake families (an exit is planned for fall of 2017) and Cannon Lake.[6]

More than 30 models of such computers, including from Acer, Huawei, Lenovo and MSI are provided already. The model code-named of "Kukuna" was performed on stage together with Asus company.


Kaby Lake

On August 17, 2016 Intel announced the beginning of deliveries of Core processors of the seventh generation code-named of Kaby Lake.

Kaby Lake processors, as well as Skylake (the sixth generation), are manufactured using 14-nanometer technology. From innovations — support of the USB-C Gen 2 and HDCP 2.2 interfaces. Besides, chips are equipped with the graphic controller optimized for processing of 4K-video that will help to create cheaper notebooks supporting this resolution[7].

By means of Core of the seventh generation Intel will try to return a consumer interest to desktop PCs. The company will try to use jump in performance which will be noticeable, and in simple tasks, both in games, and in creative programs.

Now the operating system can see in the computer on Core i7-6950X two tens logical cores at once.

The family is characterized by support of 40 PCI lines that guarantees scalability and allows to expand systems capabilities due to installation of graphic cards and solid state drives. Performance improvement became possible thanks to Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 technology and use of four-channel memory.
