Demography renders an essential role on development of mobile analytics: more and more users in the companies are familiar with mobile devices and the Internet from school article so in process of rejuvenation of the staff of the organizations they will manage a further konsumerization of IT. Gartner predicts that 33% of analytics will be used "in a pocket" in 2013. By the end of 2012 of 55% of the organizations using BI already began or planned implementation of mobile means of data analysis. As a result by 2015 the ratio of mobile and traditional BI projects will make 4:1.
According to[1] for MicroStrategy for 2012, from 2010 to 2012 the role of mobile analytics increased many times. So, the number of the participants of a research confident in exclusive importance of mobile tools of the analysis grew from 52% to 61% for the specified two years.
Penetration of mobile analytics in the different vertical markets unevenly. The maximum importance of mobile BI is given by retailers and the other trading companies, in this industry there is already a set of positive examples of implementation of mobile tools of the analysis. Rather low priority the mobile analytics, on the contrary, in a public sector, though here has a successful experience.
Most of participants of a research noted the level of penetration of mobile analytics in the organizations at the level of 10%, however, here it is necessary to make a reservation that in 2010 at the majority this indicator tended to zero. Quite aggressive plans for implementation of mobile BI solutions at the companies at the same time are noted up to 2015 – they are shown on the chart below.

In a research 25 key vendors of BI proposing solutions of mobile analytics were also considered. Analysis results of these systems are given below, from the maximum 36.5 points most the good result was shown by MicroStrategy, Yellowfin, SAP and QlikTech.

According to research Ovum[2] for January, 2013, the most functional BI solutions in the market are proposed by the companies MicroStrategy, Information Builders and Yellowfin whereas mega-vendors it seems SAP represent the best mobile analytical systems for iOS- devices.
As for mobile platforms, one and all vendors of BI support the Apple iOS platform, on the second place on the level of support by vendors – Android (90%), then with big lag mobile operating systems of BlackBerry (50%) and Windows (33%) follow. In the report of Ovum systems working under Windows 8, RT and Phone 8 are not considered at the same time.
According to Frederik Tanvall (Fredrik Tunvall), the analyst of Ovum, out of everyone doubts success of iPad in the market has significant effect on the product strategy of BI developers. Meanwhile, that mobile solutions of a business intelligence reached bigger audience, vendors should create also applications and for Windows platforms and Android which use is broadest in particular in emerging markets.
Though SAP has certain "odds" in the market mobile analysts, the caused by purchase by Afaria, Syclo and Sybase company, other vendors, such as IBM, Oracle and SAS also gradually increase a share in this market. To support the solutions at the competitive level, vendors will actively use M&A strategy, Tanvall considers. He also believes that he an innovation in the market of BI and analytics is reached the maximum level in the next several years.

So, according to forecasts of IDC of February 20013 years, in 2013 the Russian market of smartphones will grow approximately by 15%. Believe in IDC that the Russian market of smartphones is still far from saturation: the trend of growth will remain two-three more years, but also by 2015 smartphones will not occupy 50% in a total amount of the market of phones. The share of smartphones in the Russian market of phones for 2012 at the same time grew from 25% to 33%.
In piece expression at the end of 2012 in the territory of Russia 12.3 million smartphones were implemented, J’son&Partners Consulting reports. Concerning indicators of 2011 sales growth reached 52%. On total sales the share of smartphones made 30%.
Also important role is played also by development of the Russian market of tablet computers. According to Euroset, in 2012 it showed the maximum gain among all portable electronics – 366% and 256% in quantitative and monetary value. By different estimates, in 2013 sales of tablets can reach 2-3 million units.
Today practically all large BI vendors have mobile BI products in the lines. Some vendors have, for example, Oracle, in mobile version all functionality of major version of an analytical product is available. The majority of these solutions and tools to already well Russian customers that is an additional incentive for development of mobile analytics. At difference, for example, from BI with the open code where many serious solutions still in Russia are not presented, and therefore cannot be estimated by potential customers.
Market participants note that if in 2011 mobile BI was rather "pleasant addition" to the main project, than means of prime necessity, then in 2012 existence of such application even more often became the obligatory requirement of customers. At the same time if at first top management, investors and owners of the companies were the main users of mobile analytics, then now in Russia projects where the mobile analytics works "in the field" - for example, at representatives of the trading companies are implemented.
Vladimir Itkin, the development director of a partner network of Qlik (QlikTech) Russia, confirmed:"Today already every second client when choosing the BI platform and solution has obligatory criterion – work on mobile devices. Two-three years ago it was more bonus to the platform, than need. But mobile technologies were included firmly into our life, and now the tablet in hands of the non-management employee is not luxury".
According to him, the modern business user cannot wait more when the report is prepared and sent it by the staff of IT service. He already got used to obtain information in time, necessary for it, using the Internet and means of search, for example, of Google. Requests begin to grow, and mobile access to the aggregated reports is not enough too, need to see the detailed level of data becomes ripe. Decision-making speed in competitive environment depends on it that will be especially important after Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization.
Vladimir Itkin noted also one more interesting fact: recently more than a half of pilot projects of partners of QlikTech are tested by clients on mobile devices. "So before final making decision on purchase of the platform, the client wants to be convinced that the created solution will not limit its opportunity in the analysis when using on mobile devices", - the expert explained.
Sergey Shestakov, the deputy CEO for business development Forecast, told TAdviser that the company involves mobile tools in the projects very actively. In particular, Forecast creates mobile versions of the situational centers, the systems of program goals management, the systems of modeling and forecasting. At the same time solutions based on mobile version of Prognoz Platform allow to work with information both in online, and in offline mode: for example, in the airplane. All this functionality is implemented also in the standard software product "Electronic Office of the Head" which the vendor brought to the market. So the mobile BI tools are not only at the western platforms.
On the other hand, Sergey Shestakov added, the mobile analytics of mass consumption is almost not presented at the Russian market. "We regularly create similar solutions and we develop for the international organizations which use mobile applications for wide circulation of macroeconomic, ecological and other statistical data", - he explained. The expert Forecast believes that the similar analytical products expected unlimited number of end users and focused already directly on the Russian market should appear in the near future.

It is possible to give mobile application for iPad based on Prognoz Platform which the management of Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation uses as quality example of implementation of mobile BI. The head of tax administration of Russia, in particular, used this application, reporting to the prime minister of the Russian Federation.

Use of applications for iPad is very widespread in regional government – the number of administrations of the territorial subjects of the federation ordering to us similar solutions is calculated by tens. For example, the leadership of the Lipetsk region of one of the first began to apply mobile technologies in daily work, using them for access to uniform storage of all regional information. In IAS of the Lipetsk region more than 20 thematic subsystems (on territorial development, agriculture, social support, energy saving, etc.) work today on the basis of which summary analytical materials are provided to heads of the region by means of electronic tablets.
