EEC Eurasian Economic Commission

The Eurasian Economic Commission, a permanent supranational regulatory body of the Eurasian Economic Union, began work on February 2, 2012. The EEC includes representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The decisions of the Commission are binding in the countries of the Union.

The agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on May 29, 2014, entered into force on January 1, 2015. The Union ensures freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor, the implementation of coordinated, coordinated or unified policies in various sectors of the economy. The goal of the Union is to ensure the conditions for the stable development of the economies of member states in order to increase the living standards of their population, comprehensive modernization, cooperation and increase the competitiveness of national economies.

The Commission has the status of a supranational governing body. The organization is not subordinate to any of the governments of the three countries. The main task of the ECE is to ensure the conditions for the functioning and development of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space, as well as to develop proposals for the further development of integration. The powers of the abolished Commission of the Customs Union (CTS) are transferred to the ECE.

  • The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is the highest body of the Union, which includes the Presidents of member states.
  • The Eurasian Intergovernmental Economic Council is a body composed of heads of government of member states.
  • The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission is a body consisting of deputy prime ministers of member states.

2021: Appointment of Varos Simonyan as Minister for Internal Markets, Informatization, ICT

By the decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Varos Harutyunovich Simonyan was appointed to the post of Member of the Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission . 2020: Appointment of Hegam Vardanyan as Minister for Domestic Markets, Information and ICT

On January 31, 2020, TAdviser became known that from February 1, 2020, the newly appointed member of the Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Informatization and Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Gegham Levonovich Vardanyan will begin work. Annual Report

Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) published its Annual Report on its activities in 2017 and plans for 2018[1].

  • One of the most important results of the year was the signing of the Customs Code of the EAEU, which was developed on the basis of the most modern approaches to customs administration.
  • An important milestone in 2017 was also the launch of general markets for medicines and medical products, the functioning of which is ensured in the Union states by the free movement of safe, effective and high-quality drugs according to general rules.
  • Six technical regulations of the EAEU were adopted, a number of important decisions in the areas of financial policy and trade, industry and the agro-industrial complex, transport and energy, manufacturers from the countries of the Union were actively protected from dumping attempts by foreign companies.
  • Special attention was paid to building mutually beneficial relations with trading partners. The Commission considers the foreign economic agenda as an opportunity to expand markets for goods and services from the countries of the Union and import modern technologies, attract investment.
  • The first results of the free trade zone between the EAEU and Vietnam were summed up. Exports of goods of the Union countries to Vietnam increased by 39.5% compared to 2016, imports of Vietnamese products increased by 34.7%.
  • The Presidents of the Member States identified a number of priority negotiation tracks. In 2017, negotiations on the conclusion of trade agreements with Iran and China were at the final stage, which allowed them to be signed in May 2018. In addition, the EAEU intends to form free trade zones with Israel, Singapore, Serbia, India and Egypt.

In accordance with the annual rotation in 2017, Kyrgyzstan chairs the bodies of the Union. President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev is the Chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
