Rospotrebnadzor website turned off due to cyber attack

According to the ministry, the site was subjected to a DoS attack. They differ from DDoS attacks in greater simplicity both in the execution by the hacker and in the suppression by the information security department of the victim. The key difference is that DDoS involves thousands or even millions of infected devices that send signals to the servers and networks of the affected organization, causing it to overload and completely fail. A simple user at this moment cannot access the service provided by the victim company. During a DoS attack, the threat comes from only one server and is also aimed at a separate element of the network, so it is easier to localize it and reduce its impact to zero.

Analyzing data on cyber attacks in 2022 , Kaspersky Lab in April announced a significant increase in their number. So, in March, the number of DDoS attacks on Russian organizations increased eightfold compared to the same month in 2021; the increase compared to February of this year was 1.5 times. The duration of the attacks also increased: in February-March 2022, they lasted an average of 29.5 hours, while in 2021 - no more than 12 minutes.[1]

2015: Accounts Chamber convicted Rospotrebnadzor of abuse of Wikipedia

The research work that is carried out in Rospotrebnadzor is of low quality and irrelevance. The institution's specialists use outdated regulations and often refer to Wikipedia. The relevant information is contained in the message[2] Chamber[3].

The control department cites as an example the work that was carried out by employees of Rospotrebnadzor within the framework of the federal target program for the national chemical safety system. A third of the list of literature used were references to a free encyclopedia.

The audit of the Accounts Chamber also showed that more than a dozen current sanitary rules and norms do not comply with the law and require revision. For example, in product safety requirements, the rate of palm oil content is 11 times higher than GOST. This may negatively affect the health of Russians, warn in the control department.

In addition, at the end of 2014, Rospotrebnadzor did not complete the construction of 11 facilities for 2 billion rubles (the commissioning date for these facilities is 2015-2018).
