On September 22, 2015, NVision Group announced the appointment of Vitaly Zadorozhny as vice president for technology. He was responsible for the work of the technical unit of the company, overseeing the formation of technical policy, resource planning, improving the quality of service and expanding the product line, including by creating promising solutions in areas strategic for the company. One of the key tasks of NVision Group at this stage is the formation of a new technological offer for the market, the creation of products that combine the capabilities of telecommunications services and IT to improve business efficiency. To do this, we need a universal technical manager with system thinking, with many years of experience in telecommunications. I am sure that Vitaly's professional competencies will provide the company with a competitive advantage in the industry, - said Sergey Kuzmin, President of NVision Group

Since 2016, Zadorozhny worked at Sberbank: he headed the department for countering cyber fraud, then the cybersecurity laboratory.

In 2020, he headed the cybersecurity department of Alfa-Bank. Among the tasks set for him are the consolidation and transformation of the cybersecurity function, the development and implementation of a strategy in this area.

Appointment as Alfa-Bank Chief information officer

As it became known to TAdviser, in the spring of 2022 Vitaly Zadorozhny was appointed Chief information officer of Alfa-Bank. He replaced Sergei Polyakov in this position, who left the bank after its inclusion in the American SDN sanctions list (Polyakov, according to TAdviser sources, has US citizenship, and sanctions prohibit American citizens from cooperating with organizations from the sanctions lists).

The CIO change took place without any announcements in the outside. Polyakov, according to TAdviser, worked for some time in a structure close to Alfa-Bank, transferred business and completely left the bank.

Alfa-Bank could not comment on the change of Chief information officer.

The appointment of an information security director as a CIO is an exceptionally rare practice, said Alexander Abramkin, CEO of Heads Partners, a company specializing in finding executives for high-tech companies. Such a decision, according to the expert, can be explained by several reasons.

Probably, Zadorozhny has a wider outlook than in information security only, due to early experience in a large integrator and in a telecom operator, says Abramkin. - The appointment may also be related to the chosen course of Alfa-Bank towards strengthening security and increasing attention to cyber-risks against the background of the events taking place in the world. And last but not least, Vitaly could already establish himself as an effective head of the department and understand the internal features of IT management in the bank, and thus his promotion can be a very justified decision. The biggest challenge for him will be to form the core of the team to implement, probably, a new IT strategy, which will be based on replacing Western software and maintaining the bank's performance. His personal success as the new top manager of the largest private bank in the country will depend on how quickly Vitaly copes with this task.
