2020: Launch of the pilot project "Electronic sharpening"
On July 2, 2020, it became known that at the plant in St. Petersburg, Sveza launched a pilot project "Electronic sharpening," thanks to which it is possible to track and systematize plywood defects online. The equipment will allow you to quickly eliminate shortcomings and improve product quality. In the first months of operation alone, the scrap rate at the mill decreased by 1.6%.
In the process of sorting plywood, a sheet that does not correspond to the grade of the target order is sent to a special pocket, and defects are registered by employees of the enterprise. The classic version of the sharpening provided for a paper check sheet with a list of defects, the data for which were entered in the Excel table at the end of the shift. This format was stretched over time.
Now information , with the help of a touchscreen panel or a touch monitor, it is entered in cloudy storage the associated with. SAP This allows you to see the result of sorting almost online, increases the speed of data transfer. Specially designed ON offers a simple and intuitive interface for finding the desired production order, allows the sorter to register a defect with one touch of the screen, transfers data to those pieces of equipment and to those shifts where these defects occur. Analyzing shortcomings online allows you to adjust your work and avoid them.
Of course, such a high result was achieved thanks to a set of events. However, the availability of objective data on defects played a key role in this work, "says Olga Kukut, head of technology development and quality assurance at Sveza. |
Sveza is constantly improving its production processes: despite the good quality of products, projects are being implemented at all plants to further improve it. In 2019, the "Scrap-Efficiency" program was launched, the purpose of which is to introduce a systematic approach to working with losses and to reduce the level of internal scrap at all the company's plants. As part of the quality improvement project, defects were unified at all Sveza production sites, which allows the mills to continue to work together to reduce defects and exchange best practices. In addition, the enterprises have introduced a quality management system that makes it possible to structure the change process and achieve "built-in quality" or self-control of production.

Production update for 6.5 billion rubles
The Sveza timber industry group has launched an updated plywood plant, in which about 6.5 billion rubles were invested. The press service of Rosleskhoz announced this on February 1, 2024.
The project was called "Innovator + 52." Thanks to its implementation:
- updated sawmill and plywood production;
- high-tech production lines have been introduced from sorting the funkrage to the release of large-format plywood;
- the volume of annual production of plywood has been increased to 200 thousand m3;
- created 200 additional jobs.
North-West is one of the leaders in the implementation of priority investment projects for the development of LPC. Here traditionally developed timber industry regions are the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions, the Republic of Karelia and Komi. The development of priority projects allows enterprises to create additional jobs in the regions, as well as products with high added value. The practice of support for timber enterprises from the state will continue further so that in the new economic conditions the business feels confident, - said the head of Rosleskhoz Ivan Sovetov. |
The Sveza Group is one of the largest producers of birch plywood in Russia. By the beginning of 2024, the total production capacity for the production of plywood and wood chips at the enterprises of the Sveza Group is 1.4 million m3. Sveza plants are located in Tyumen, Manturovo (Kostroma region), Verkhnyaya Sinyachikha (Sverdlovsk region), Ural (Perm Territory), Novator and Sveza Resource (Vologda region), Kostroma, Ust-Izhora (Petersburg).
In 2024, the Svezy group plans to launch another project in the Vologda Region - strengthening the bank of the Sukhona River, on which the plywood production plant is located. This will protect production sites and the residential sector from flooding with flood waters in the spring. The volume of investments will be 300 million rubles.[1]
2022: Sending employees to downtime amid conflict in Ukraine and export problems
In June 2022, it became known that the world's largest plywood manufacturer, Sveza from Severgroup Alexei Mordashov, was underutilized due to the inability to export products amid the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier, Mordashov said that the company's employees had to be sent to downtime.

Zero waste philosophy
Every year, the enterprises of the Sveza group produce 1.4 million cubic meters of plywood and chip boards. At the same time, about 2 million cubic meters of what was previously considered waste are formed, and now it becomes the basis for the production of by-products. "The Sveza group adheres to Zero waste philosophy - these are the principles of preserving all resources through conscientious production, consumption, reuse. This is in tune with the National Project "Ecology," the purpose of which is to improve the environmental situation. Our company was one of the first in Russia to develop bioeconomics, the important areas of which are the use of renewable sources for the sustainable development of society and for the production of products necessary for humans, "said Anatoly Frishman, CEO of the group. |
Some of the by-products are used as fuel for their own boiler houses, the rest is used for the production of chip boards, snowing and sale. The Company constantly invests in the modernization of equipment and the construction of production systems focused on the rational use of raw materials, energy resources and recycling of wood waste.
In addition, Sveza is mastering a line of modern wood-based bioproducts, increasing the share of green power and ensuring sustainable development. At all mills of the company, wood briquettes are produced, for the production of which crushed dry wood waste or wood dust remaining after grinding plywood is used. Wood dust is compacted with a hydraulic press at a high pressure of 300-400 bar, and additional materials and binders are not used. The enterprises produce RUF briquettes, each weighing 833 grams. Briquettes are suitable for heating the residential sector and at production sites. Compared to coal and natural gas, fuel briquettes during combustion emit tens of times less greenhouse gas SO2, have high heat transfer, and after their combustion there is a minimum of waste (less than 0.5% of the mass).
This year, the production of several types of biological products began - charcoal, obtained by heating wood without oxygen access. The first batches of coal and coal briquettes have already arrived at the chain's stores. " In the Tape near future, increasing the scale of production and delivery to all regions of the company's presence.
In addition, as part of a comprehensive power development program, the company continues to build mini-CHPPs. Own energy centers, operating through the use of by-products of plywood production, reduce the volume of purchased resources and replace them with renewable energy sources. In the final stage, the construction of a mini-CHPP at the Ural plant, investments in the project exceeded 2.5 billion rubles. In Verkhnyaya Sinyachikha (Sverdlovsk Region), a 14 MW thermal oil plant was put into operation, which also operates on incinerated waste and allows the plant to eliminate electricity losses. Investments in the project amounted to almost 760 million rubles. A similar installation is being built at the plant in Novator (Vologda Oblast).
The first annual audit of the Sveza plant in Tyumen according to the FSC certification system
On May 7, 2020, it became known that the Sveza plant in Tyumen successfully passed the first annual audit under the FSC certification system and confirmed compliance with international standards of the supply chain and controlled wood.
For the Tyumen Svezy plant, this is the first audit after receiving an FSC certificate (license code FSC-C144965) in 2019. The supply chain certificate confirms that the company uses wood only from proven sources (harvested legally, without violating human rights and without using forests of high environmental value).
The FSC certificate of the supply chain confirms that the company has a system for controlling the supply and processing of wood, from the purchase of raw materials to the sale of finished products. To confirm the legality of the origin of wood raw materials and the fulfillment by suppliers of the requirements of the current legislation in forest management, FSC certification is carried out. During the audit, a representative of the FSC accredited body NAPKhe confirmed the certification status of the plant, noting that all control processes meet the highest requirements.
The priority of "Sveza" is the responsible use of resources. The Company works hard with wood suppliers to encourage them to use the forest in good faith and comply with all applicable requirements and standards. FSC certification is a tool for promoting responsible forest management and production, important not only for us, but also for customers seeking responsible consumption, "says Sergey Kroshkin, Head of Forest Supply at Sveza. |
