2018: Symantec purchased Appthority
In November, 2018 Symantec announced acquisition of two companies specializing in solutions for information security support. It is about Appthority and Javelin Networks, having absorbed which Symantec is going to improve the products for cyber defense of corporate systems and mobile devices.
Financial and other conditions of transactions are not reported. It is known only that technologies of the purchased startups will find application in the software of Symantec. So, Appthority will be integrated with a system for a comprehensive cybersecurity protection of Symantec Endpoint Protection Mobile which was started after Skycure firm takeover in 2017.
As for Javelin Networks, this company is engaged in the protection of the companies against the attacks on a directory service of Microsoft Active Directory used in operating systems of Windows. The Israeli company is founded in 2014, and from that moment to November of the 2018th it raised $5 million funds from investors. Javelin Networks moved to the USA and has offices in Austin and Palo Alto.
Symantec is going to integrate Javelin Networks technologies with the solutions for security of endpoints, promising to help "reveal the operated tabs" in the Active Directory and prevent the attacks when using backdoors.
Symantec considers that the company bypasses the competitors thanks to as the traditional protection based on the signature analysis and due to artificial intelligence.[1]
