SurfEasy — VPN- service which ciphers all Internet traffic on the smartphone, the tablet and the computer to ensure privacy and safety on the Internet. The application is available to operating systems Windows Android, macOS and iOS.

2017: Symantec buys SurfEasy

At the beginning of November, 2017 the anti-virus company Symantec announced purchase of SurfEasy from the developer of the Opera Software browsers within the strategy aimed at the development of technologies of information security support of the consumer equipment. The cost of the transaction is $38.5 million.

SurfEasy and Symantec long time were partners. Technologies of a startup are used in service Symantec Norton Wi-fi VPN which provides enciphering of personal data without tracking of actions of the user on the Internet or maintaining the magazine.

SurfEasy is VPN service which offers online security, privacy protection and anonymity on the Internet when using to Windows, Mac and mobile devices IOS and Android

Symantec announced this acquisition in a week after the publication of the forecast for growth of consumer business for several percent. These are serious changes in comparison with a situation of 2016 when sharp decline in sales of division of Consumer Business Unit was observed.

According to the head of Five Nines IT company (the partner of Symantec) Douglas Grosfield, the transaction will help Symantec to strengthen the positions in the field of security.

It not it large acquisition in market scales, but it will allow to provide safe communication at universal use of wireless services and free Wi-Fi, - considers Grosfield.

He also added that the protected client VPN technology which SurfEasy has protects IOS, Android, Mac and Windows devices, and it is one more sign that suppliers aim to provide the complete protected solutions.

Demand for VPN solutions grows because of detection of different vulnerabilities in Wi-fi technologies and changes in the legislation on a network neutrality.  Users who aim to protect the personal data use for these purposes of VPN more and more.[1]

2015: Opera buys SurfEasy

The developer of the Opera Software browsers announced purchase of SurfEasy in March, 2015. The cost of the transaction was not reported.
