2019: Symantec purchased Luminate Security
On February 12, 2019 Symantec announced Luminate Security acquisition, but the cost of the transaction did not begin to open. According to the Israeli edition Globes, about $200 million are about the amount.
Symantec considers that the company, having caught Luminate, will be able to offer secure access to the private systems: the user connections will be resolved only to certain applications and resources.
Luminate calls itself the pioneer in the market of software-defined solutions for perimeter of network ( software-defined perimeter, SDP). Such technology which is developed by the company is called Secure Access Cloud and will expand possibilities of the Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense platform which integrates cloud and local security on endpoints, in networks, e-mail and a cloud, protecting from difficult threats, reducing at the same time costs and complexity of service.
We expect that in the near future corporations will manage the business at the expense of infrastructure which, in turn, will be controlled the third parties, like Azure, AWS and Google — the head of Symantec Greg Clark comments on merger of Luminate. — In modern realities third-party infrastructure should approaching trust very carefully as it should be responsible for data and users. Consolidation of Luminate technology with Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense allows us to take the central place in an era of cloud computing. |
By February, 2019 in Luminate 39 people work, and the general amount of the involved investments was $14 million[1]
