2012: Thoma Bravo initiates sale of Crossbeam Systems in Blue Coat
In December, 2012 the Blue Coat company announced conclusion of an agreement about purchase of Crossbeam Systems, developer of high-performance and high-scalable network equipment for creation of firewalls based on software products, in particular, Check Point, McAfee, Imperva, Sourcefire, IBM and Trend Micro.
Blue Coat and Crossbeam are included into group, controlled by private investment fund Thoma Bravo which actually and was an initiator and the organizer of the transaction. Process of acquisition of Crossbeam Systems is supposed to be completed on December 31, 2012. After that the Crossbeam company will function under the name of Blue Coat and all its main business functions will be integrated with Blue Coat business.
At this Blue Coat announced that customers of Crossbeam will continue to receive the same high level of support and service. Moreover, within integration, the single system of support based on the best methodologies and technologies of both companies will be created further.
The existing Blue Coat and Crossbeam sales channels will independently function so far.
Modern requirements of the organizations and the increasing number of the devices of different type getting access to network and volume content are the main catalyst of development of networks which require the increasing capacity and performance. These requirements lead also need of the increasing investments into additional solutions of security and control of network. For the enterprises which aim to implement new technologies, such as mobile and cloud applicaions in the existing environment of ensuring safe work, this factor is critical.

Consolidation it with the solutions Blue Coat Unified Security allows to create an ideal control point in network for management of applications, monitoring of the entering and leaving traffic for all users in any point of network of any scale.

The headquarters of Crossbeam was in the city of Boksborough (State of Massachusetts). Besides, the company had offices in Europe, Latin America and the Pacific Rim.
