Astra Linux Special Edition

Astra Linux — the special purpose operating system based on Linux core created for needs of bodies of the public and military administration and other organizations which work with information of limited access. The Astra Linux provides the protected information processing of any level of confidentiality, whether it be personal data, a trade, official or state secret, up to data with a signature stamp "top secret". The built-in means of protecting of OS are developed together with FSB of Russia Academy and Institute of system programming of RAS.

Main Characteristics

OS a special purpose of Astra Linux Special Edition it is intended for creation on its basis of the automated systems in the protected execution processing information with privacy degree "top secret" inclusive. Astra Linux Special Edition OS is created and develops on the basis of widespread distribution kits Debian and Ubuntu.

Types of the protected information:

• Trade secret
• Confidential information
• Personal data
• State secret

The certified release of the operating system functions on modern servers and workstations with processor architecture h86-64 and has the code name "Smolensk".

In addition to basic means of the operating system are included in its structure:

• the protected graphic desktop of Fly;
• the protected relational DBMS PostgreSQL;
• the protected Exim and Dovecot servers and the client of e-mail Thunderbird;
• the protected Apache Web server and the Firefox browser;
• means of the organization of the network domain and centralized operation by credentials of users of Astra Linux Directory (ALD);
• the integrated packet of office applications of OpenOffice,
• and also large number of other applications.

Key feature of Astra Linux Special Edition is existence of the built-in information security tools integrated with its principal components. It is a basis for creation of the protected high-performance scalable solutions of a broad spectrum: from autonomous computers and small software and hardware complexes to the most difficult geographically distributed automated systems.

In 2013 by the order of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation of Astra Linux Special Edition OS it was accepted on supply of Armed Forces of Russia.

2017: Announcement of the joint solution

On August 23, 2017 New cloud technologies company, the developer of a cloud platform and full-function office applications of "MyOffice", and NPO Rusbitech, the developer of operating systems Astra Linux, announced release of a joint product.

Thus, now the import-independent platform includes not only Astra Linux Special Edition OS, but also the basic software — the set of applications of MyOffice. It is expected that the joint product will provide to users both financial economy, and additional opportunities of technical support of the companies, materials and services in deployment and training.

A set of the integrated products offered by us, the operating system and the office suite, provides to customers confidence that the solution purchased by them conforms to high requirements both for security, and for functionality. Both solutions are used by uniform approaches to protection, development and production, allowing to project information systems with high standards. Applications of a packet pass joint test both at early production phases, and in a certification process on compliance to requirements for information security that guarantees their full compatibility with each other — the CEO of New cloud technologies Dmitry Komissarov emphasized.

Recently our company started a product together with New cloud technologies. We created boxed domestic import-independent solutions which will facilitate collective work with documents of different formats. The product was already included into the register Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications Russia and was tested on mutual compatibility according to the Software ready for Astra Linux program — the CEO of NPO Rusbitech added in return Yury Anoshko.

MyOffice it is certified by FSTEC of Russia including on the Astra Linux operating system. The joint solution was tested the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications within testing of domestic software.

Availability and options of delivery

The joint product will be available to piloting in September, 2017.

The following options of delivery of the solution, depending on wishes of customers are provided:

• The Astra Linux Special Edition operating system and the MyOffice applications for workstations;
• The platform of office work of a full stroke including storage, creation of documents and also communications and possibilities of joint work on different devices;
• The AstraLinux platform + MyOffice according to the program of corporate licensing (will allow to license a product for any number of the PC), the solution is intended for the organizations of any sizes and types.

2015: Beginning of cooperation

In November, 2015 New cloud technologies and NPO Rusbitech announced partnership with the purpose to provide functioning of the MyOffice applications in the environment of the special purpose operating system Astra Linux Special Edition. The works are going to be completed in the 2nd quarter 2016.

"Such integrated protected solution will allow to provide the organization of service of storage and joint editing documents by users in the automated systems processing confidential information, personal data, a trade secret, the state secret and other information of limited access", - say in New cloud technologies.

2018: Rates of Astra Linux in the directory of IT Academy

As it became known on November 23, 2018 the authorized operating system rates (OS) Linux complemented with Astra the directory IT academies on import-substituting products. In more detail here.

2015: Integration with IBS

At the beginning of 2015 Acronis company (the decision maker for disaster recovery and protection), NPO Rusbitech (the creator of the protected Astra Linux operating system) and also IBS company (software provider and IT services) jointly tested the products. According to test results, IBS which is carried out by engineers, the product Acronis Backup Advanced for Linux Server showed full compatibility with the built-in means of protecting of Astra Linux, including with a mandatory access control system. Thus, Acronis Backup Advanced for Linux Server together with Astra Linux is ready for operation in systems processing confidential information and information which belongs to the state secret.

Partnership about LISSI-Crypto

In October, 2011 LISSI-Crypto LLC and JSC NPO Rusbitech signed the partner agreement. Within the partner agreement the software of LISSI-Crypto LLC company (a HSS "LISI UTS", the LirVPN PC, the LirXCA PC and also Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey with support of the Russian cryptography - GOST 28147-89, GOST P 34.11-94, GOST P 34.10-2001) on the special purpose operating system Astra Linux Special Edition developed in JSC NPO Rusbitech was tested.

In interaction with hardware and software of cryptographic information protection of production of ANKAD Firm LLC and appapatno-software modules of a trusted boot of family of Maxims of production of JSC NPO Rusbitech the special purpose operating system "Astra Linux Special Edition" represents the ready-made complete solution – the protected hardware-software platform for the automated systems processing information of limited access.

Development History

2019: Compatibility with Linter DBMS

On January 21, 2019 the Relex company reported that it together with ASTRALINUX carried out joint tests of the software products developed by the companies. 2018

Compatibility with CommuniGate Pro

On September 26, 2018 the CommuniGate Systems Russia company reported that together with JSC NPO Rusbitech held testing for compatibility and correctness of work of products: a multilegal communication server of CommuniGate Pro and the Astra Linux Special Edition operating system and also concluded technology partnership. As a part of a safe basic automated workplace

The group of the Russian software developers and ADP equipment in structure T-Platforms, New cloud technologies, Rusbitech, Infotecs, Crypto Pro and Phoenix created the automated workplace which differs in the high level of information security. Compatibility with EDMS "Sputnik"

On July 10, 2018 the companies NPO Rusbitech and Corus Consulting "DM" announced completion of work on the joint project on creation of a multifunction complex for work with electronic documents based on domestic operating system to Astra Linux and EDMS Sputnik.

A number of tests for compatibility of software products of a complex not only with Astra Linux OS was carried out, but also with other software products entering the register of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications and necessary for users for daily work then the companies signed the agreement on cooperation and exchanged certificates on technology partnership. Astra Linux - Oryol 2.12

ORYOL is the modern operating system of the class Linux including in the structure the components of the open source and author's solutions of developers allowing to expand possibilities of its application as the server platform or in workplaces of users.

Key features of the obvnovlenny version are:

• core 4.15 and a relevant set of drivers for compatibility with the available perefiriyny equipment and ensuring correct functioning of modern computer aids
• the user-friendly graphical interface usual for users of Windows of systems, with a possibility of start and work on tablets
• the possibility of a task of hashes of passwords according to GOST P 34.11-2012 is implemented
• the possibility of creation ssh-tunely, the headings of IP packets using control of integrity according to GOST P 34.12-2015 is implemented
• set of components of the vulnerabilities of the operating system allowing to neutralize threat of operation:
• - possibility of restriction of powers of users on use of consoles
• - possibility of restriction of work with interpreted languages for unprivileged users

Compatibility with platforms of the BLOK series

The RTSoft company in cooperation with official technology and the business partner Rusbitech Astra in January, 2018 completed tests of the BLOK platform based on the 6th generation of the built-in microprocessors of Intel company (the code name SkyLake) within the domestic Astra Linux Special Edition operating system of version 1.5.

Were tested within December, 2017 on the platform Rusbitech Astra. Based on testing in operation modes of BIOS Legacy/PnP and UEFI it is established that the BLOK platform correctly functions running SE 1.5 Astra Linux OS. Results of tests are confirmed with the official protocol.

In accordance with the terms agreements, the clients of RTSoft who are working or going to work at plaforma of BLOK will obtain guarantees of compatibility of products of RTSoft and Rusbitech and will be able to reduce risks of ownership of difficult equipment rooms and software products and also own operating costs — at the expense of a possibility of acquisition of machines of the BLOK series from RTSoft together with licenses for SE Astra Linux OS at the standard or reduced cost with the mode of guarantees and technical support.

RTSoft recommends application of SE 1.5 Astra Linux OS for any domestic and foreign projects of the Russian companies where are crucial the high level of the state certification, high security requirements and reliability, lack of export restrictions, development of a product of the class Linux.

2016: Integration with "A circuit of information security of SearchInform"

On April 11, 2016 it became known of agreement signature between Ltd company SearchInform and joint stock company NPO Rusbitech about cooperation regarding integration DLP- a system "Circuit of information security of SearchInform" with the Astra Linux operating system.

According to the parties, integration of DLP systems into Astra Linux OS, as well as the agreement will serve as the perspective solution of a number of the tasks facing the companies regarding strengthening of internal information security.

Emergence of the product "Circuit of Information Security of SearchInform" adapted for Astra Linux is expected. Further, within the agreement, it is going to test products for compatibility, to conduct mutual consultation, promotion in the Russian market.

The version of the "Circuit of information security of SearchInform" adapted for Astra Linux with support of interception of e-mail messages, information transferred under the FTP protocol with interception of messages in messengers, at forums and web services will appear in May. 2015: Astra Linux Common Edition

Astra Linux Common Edition is intended for solving of tasks of medium and small business while the version of Special Edition is the special purpose secure system providing data protection, containing the data which are the state secret with a signature stamp not above "top secret". The structure of Astra Linux Special Edition includes the program components expanding its functionality and increasing the level of security and convenience of its use.

2014: Mobile version

The developer of family of the protected Astra Linux OS -NPO Rusbitech company - created the Astra Linux Special Edition OS basic distribution kit for the mobile devices working based on processors with architecture of ARM. In August, 2014 TAdviser told the source close to the company about it.

A system can work both on tablets, and on smartphones. On the basis of source codes of a basic distribution kit the company by request brings together it individually under the specific device of the client, every time in a new way.

Completion is conducted, for example, depending on what, for example, is necessary to the customer a graphic subsystem, office suites what are necessary to him network services, means of backup and data recovery with what DBMS a system, etc. will work, the interlocutor of TAdviser explains.

In addition to the OS components directly necessary for the customer at assembly of mobile version of Astra Linux Special Edition also degree of privacy of the processed information on the device and the necessary system of certification of the information security facility (the Ministry of Defence, FSTEC, FSB) is considered. Installation of mobile OS and a firmware of the device are conducted industrially.

2012: Certification

Certification of the special purpose operating system of Astra Linux Special Edition in the system of certification of FSTEC (certificate of conformity No. 2557 of January "27", 2012) is complete. The certification tests which are carried out by testing laboratory NGO "Echelon" confirmed compliance of the operating system to requirements of regulating documents of FSTEC for the 3rd class of security of computer engineering means and to the 2nd level of absence control of not declared opportunities. The operating system can be used during creation of automated systems to a class of security 1B inclusive. Compliance of the operating system to security requirements of information is also confirmed with certificate of conformity No. 1339 of 9/24/2010 of a system of certification of information security toolsof the Russian Defense Ministry. It is certified also in the system of certification of FSB.
