Selling part of the MRI business

Sonalleve MR-HIFU set

Sonalleve MR-HIFU is a therapeutic platform for relieving the pain of cancer patients. This system allows for palliative therapy of pain syndrome in case of bone metastasis without surgical intervention. The equipment acts by thermal ablation on the periosteal nerves of the patient under analgesia.

Under the terms of the agreement, Philips will continue to distribute Sonalleve devices in projects to use them together with Ingenia and Achieva MRI systems. In addition, the Dutch company will provide Profound with additional services, such as installing Sonalleve MR-HIFU in medical facilities and manufacturing tables for this equipment. Philips will remain the distributor of Profound TULSA-PRO ultrasonic ablation systems.

After closing the deal with Philips, Profound began to call itself the world's only supplier of therapeutic platforms for ablation of diseased tissue, combining real-time MRI imaging and high-intensity focused ultrasound.[1]

Purchase of software developer TomTec

On July 18, 2017, Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, announced a deal to acquire the German company TomTec Imaging Systems, a leading supplier of software for analyzing diagnostic medical imaging data, especially ultrasound.
