History
2021: Philips Healthcare bought Cardiologists
In early November 2021, Philips Healthcare signed an agreement to acquire the French company Cardiologs, a developer of electrocardiogram analysis and reporting software. The transaction, which is subject to normal closing conditions, is expected to be completed before the end of 2021. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Cardiologs uses electrocardiogram (ECG) data to identify potential cardiac arrhythmias. Although there are many companies seeking to use ECG data, including consumer devices KardiaMobile and Apple Watch, Cardiologists stands out among others thanks to a platform independent of the device itself. Cardiologists can upload ECG information to a cloud platform from a variety of compatible devices, from Holter monitors to smart watches, as well as smart patches. The company's software platform is certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is labeled CE for screening atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias as physician care, rather than as a standalone diagnostic tool.
The global presence of Philips will accelerate the availability of Cardiologists technologies to patients around the world and ensure the achievement of four goals: improving the quality of patient care, improving health indicators, improving staff performance and reducing the cost of treatment, "said Roy Jakobs, head of connected care at Philips. |
Cardiologists employees, mainly engineers and data processing specialists, will be able to go to Philips and work in its research laboratory in Paris. Jan Flero, CEO and co-founder of Cardiologists, emphasized that after the acquisition, the company will continue to work with third-party suppliers. The deal will replenish Philips' growing portfolio of cardiology solutions for hospitals and outpatients.[1]
