EPD Solutions is the Dutch manufacturing company of the cardiological systems of visualization and navigation used for treatment of patients with violations of a warm rhythm. EPD belonged to Hobart group which are engaged in increase in efficiency of the low-invasive kateterny procedures performed for therapy of cardiac arrhythmias.

2018: Philips buys EPD Solutions
On June 5, 2018 the Philips company announced EPD Solutions purchase. Initial contribution makes $292.1 million, the subsequent payments — about $250 million on condition of contract performance.
According to the CEO of Philips Frans van Houten, this acquisition will provide to the company significant advantage in the fast-growing market of the ablatsionny procedures used at cardiac arrhythmia. Philips already spent more than 2 billion euros to get on this market, however EPD, van Houten considers, has the highly competitive innovative technologies capable to meet demand of consumers.
The EPD systems installed in hospitals across the whole Europe provide to surgeons detailed three-dimensional anatomic model of heart during the procedures of ablation. Therefore this acquisition will expand a portfolio of services for medical visualization of Philips. In particular, the EPD Solutions technology allows specialists to receive detailed 3D - the image of anatomy of heart and to provide visualization and navigation of catheters during the procedures for detection and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia. The company purchased developers of the platform for image processing under the name Azurion and devices for vascular visualization of Volcano earlier. As envisioned by Philips, the combination of opportunities of the angiographic Philips Azurion system and technology of navigation of heart of EPD Solutions will allow doctors to obtain all necessary data for detection and treatment of violations of a warm rhythm.
The market of visualization researches remains the priority direction of development of the company. Sales of Philips in the sector of visualization therapy grew twice in the first quarter 2018 to $1.5 billion Po slovam van Houtena, Philips will continue to purchase potentially significant producers, cooperation with whom will help the company to develop new visualization devices for diagnostics and treatment of different statuses that finally leads to quality improvement of life of patients.
Staff of EPD will pass to Philips after closing of the transaction in July, 2018.[1]
