History
2020: Emerson buys Open Systems International
At the beginning of September, 2020 Emerson announced acquisition of OSI for $1.6 billion. The company management considers that digitalization is crucial for reliability augmentation of the power supply network, inclusion net and renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, requires exact and effective coordination. Emerson hopes to integrate the advanced technologies in the field of production with OSI software for electric power distribution and by that to give to clients an opportunity of continuous monitoring, control and process optimization in real time.
As utility companies around the world invest in digitization of network and adapt to new power sources and technologies, in the industry there are inevitable changes, - the executive president of division of Emerson Automation Solutions Lal Karsanbhai noted. - Acquisition of OSI will help the electrical power industry to use as much as possible renewable energy sources and to accelerate transition to the "smart" power supply network. |
The advanced OSI modular technology proposes to clients individual solutions for management of power supply system which can be scaled if necessary. The combination of this technology to a management system of Emerson Ovation will give to consumers of utilities clearer idea of a current status of their power supply system. Besides, the companies promise to optimize energy efficiency of all power network from production before delivery to the consumer and by that to minimize a carbon trace.[1]
