2022: Sony bought Haven Studios

In mid-March 2022, Sony acquired Haven Studios. The company did not disclose the financial component of the transaction.

Haven Studios, founded and led by experienced game designer Jade Raymond, and Sony initially announced a partnership in 2021. By March 2022, the studio has not released a single game.

We began working with Jade and her team in early 2021, when they just announced the creation of Haven Studios, "said Sony. "From the very first sentence, we were inspired by Haven's vision to create a modern multiplayer game that brings gamers together in a positive and meaningful way, as well as their strategy to develop new original intellectual property for PlayStation.

Details about the first Haven Studios game have not yet been disclosed, but Raymond said the studio has made striking progress in a short time thanks to a talented, enthusiastic team and its exceptional contribution to business development.

The first new intellectual property for PlayStation involves the development of a multiplayer AAA class game, which includes the creation of a systemic and developing world focused on freedom, thrills that will support the interest of players for many years, Raymond noted.

As the first SIE studio, we will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the world's most famous development teams, including studios such as Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and Insomniac Games, the creators of games that inspired us as players and developers for many years, "Raymond explained.

The company did not specify on which platforms the first Haven Studios game will appear. In a separate press release, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said the project "will not only expand the capabilities of PlayStation 5, but also provide a variety of gaming opportunities that can be found only on the PlayStation." This clearly indicates the exclusivity of the PS5, which, as Sony previously stated, the company wants to preserve.[1]
