2021: Sony bought Nixxes Software
At the end of June 2021, Sony announced the purchase of the Dutch gaming studio Nixxes Software, which is engaged in porting console games to different platforms. The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.
By June 2021, Nixxes Software supported only games released by Square Enix. The company's works include games such as Legacy of Cain, Marvel's Avengers. The studio also ported Tomb Raider and Deus Ex series games to the PC. Taking into account the experience of Nixxes Software in porting, Sony expects that the studio will allow you to transfer more exclusive PlayStation games to PCs, while the company will not need to distract PlayStation developers from creating new games.
I respect Nixxes very much and am very glad that this experienced team has become part of the Sony global development community. They have a passion for improving games and providing significant convenience for gamers. Nixxes will be an important asset for everyone at PlayStation Studios, helping our teams focus on their most important goal, namely creating unique content for PlayStation at its best, "said Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios. |
Nixxes Software founder Yuri Katzman noted in a press release that the team is looking forward to working with some of the most talented teams in the industry to ensure the highest quality gameplay for PlayStation fans.[1]
