Start of repetitive production

On December 22, 2022, the Horizon plant began mass production of the first Belarusian laptops. In total, about 80 laptop models have been developed, and in 2023 it is planned to launch more than 300 items on the market.

The first model is an H-book MAK4 with an Intel Core 11 processor. The developers of the laptop claim that they use components the same as well-known global brands. However, the device uses 12% of Belarusian components.

The launch of production was preceded by serious preparation both in the field of development and in the field of preparation of production processes. For example, they modernized the production of electronics at the Minsk Production Association of Computer Equipment, purchased more than 300 units of production equipment, launched and debugged production processes and testing.

Yuri Predko, general director of OJSC Horizon Holding Management Company, said that the H-book MAK4 can compete with eminent brands in terms of quality and performance. He explained that a large team of designers, engineers, developers, circuit engineers, programmers, manufacturers, marketers with international experience worked on the creation of the product. Investments in the project by December 23, 2022 were not disclosed[1]

Appearance of information about the price of a laptop

On September 13, 2022, information appeared about the cost of the first Belarusian laptop - it will be 1300 Belarusian, rubles or about 31,000, Russian rubles for the basic equipment.

As noted, the readiness for serial production of the device is 100%.

Announcement of the "first Belarusian computer"

On September 1, 2022, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented a laptop, which he called "the first Belarusian computer." The device was developed at the Horizon plant in Minsk.

By the beginning of September 2022, about 12% of laptop components are Belarusian-made products. By the end of 2022, this share will grow to 30%, said Alexander Lukashenko.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that it would be "the most modern computer at the level of world standards," noting that not a single computer can be fully produced by one country, and science is international. He recalled that the republic has a high-tech park, its own artificial satellite and the Belarusian nuclear power plant have been created.

The head of state also recalled that in cooperation with Russian specialists, several supercomputers were previously created.

Earlier in 2022, Lukashenko said that Moscow would allocate about $2 billion to Minsk for joint projects in the field of import substitution. He stressed that Russia remains the main strategic partner of Belarus. According to him, the two countries are planning "dark-dark" joint projects[3]
