The warehouse of the Sport-Marathon store is automated using Axelot WMS X5

2022: Implementation of Axelot WMS X5 for the ability to configure WMS for business process logic

On December 21, 2022, AXELOT announced that Sport-Marathon had switched to the AXELOT WMS X5 specialized solution in order to be able to configure WMS for business process logic.

The company has its own warehouse, which is located in 4 rooms, including a warehouse with a three-story mezzanine for storing small-scale goods. The replenishment of all sites is carried out from one warehouse specially designed to solve this problem. In warehouses, products are received from suppliers, and then sent to the counter of the Sport-Marathon store or delivered to customers of the online store.

The work of such a warehouse is difficult to manage without a specialized software solution. A self-written system has already been implemented in the warehouse, but its configuration has become too difficult and labor-intensive, a more up-to-date and flexible solution was required with the ability to develop and adapt to changing business processes. Therefore, the management of the Sport-Marathon store decided to implement AXELOT WMS X5.

As part of the project, AXELOT specialists had to combine all four warehouses in one WMS installation, one of which is physically removed and acts as a storage and replenishment warehouse for the main sampling rooms. Thanks to the flexibility of settings and the ability to adapt the system, the project implemented all the functionality necessary for the warehouse, including taking into account the specifics of warehouse processing of the company's products. As a result, now:

• Acceptance of marked (PPE) products is available even if there is no information about the item, while matching and/or control is carried out during the acceptance process.
• Work with packages has been implemented: planning for the selection of components takes place only for a fully formed package, and control is carried out only for fully assembled packages.
• Printing of duplicate PPE on commercial packages (for example, shoe boxes) is available.
• The "status" scheme of work on orders received from the online store has been implemented (for example, if the order is partially planned due to the lack of balances, then the information is transmitted to the CIS, and the order is blocked until a decision is made).
• Reconciliation of balances is carried out not only by a common figure, but also by selected areas and areas in order to quickly display on the website of the online store.
• It is possible to assemble several orders into "one batch" according to certain rules during regular order assembly.
• The cells are locked when the start of the physical inventory in this cell is fixed and unlocked after the end.
• Warehouse employees perform all operations using data collection terminals, performing only those tasks that are available for the corresponding task queues.

The introduction of AXELOT WMS X5 made it possible not only to combine on a digital level all independent premises in which the warehouse is located, but also to systematically solve the issue of taking into account the entire variety of the company's assortment.
