2022: Developing a Warehouse Development Concept with Axelot
logistic audit The concept developed during will allow the company ELIS FASHION RUS to combine the warehouse of raw materials and finished products in one building. During the project, the initial plan for the development of the territory was adjusted so that the existing territory is enough to accommodate the necessary room and shunting platforms without violating construction the norms. This was announced on January 17, 2023 by the company. AXELOT
The geography of the presence of ELIS FASHION RUS in January 2023 exceeds 100 cities in Russia, and others are added to 240 retail outlets. Predicting an increase in turnover and load on warehouse logistics, the company's management decided to prepare and design a warehouse site on which both finished products and raw materials will be processed at the same time. And the first stage in the creation of the warehouse was the survey of existing warehouses and the development of target options for the development of the warehouse at the designed site, as well as the preparation of an architectural construction concept of the warehouse. To conduct logistics consulting, ELIS FASHION RUS management contacted AXELOT Group of Companies, whose specialists are already implementing AXELOT WMS X5 at the customer's existing warehouse sites.
The work was carried out at the company's warehouse in the Rostov region, during the project, AXELOT CONSULT specialists conducted a thorough survey of product groups, business processes, topology and equipment used, and identified several growth zones, having worked out which the warehouse will be able to reduce the time required for operations, reduce the length of the routes of pickers, increase storage density and minimize the impact of the human factor.
Based on these results, the concept of warehouse development was developed and recommendations were given regarding the selection of equipment for storage and sorting of goods, as well as approaches to determining the mutual location of storage areas and processing technologies that would allow combining two warehouses in one building - raw materials and finished products.
AXELOT CONSULT specialists made an initial assessment of the use of robotic technologies. Thus, an automatic oval conveyor sorting system will speed up and improve the quality of processing of both incoming (from production) and outgoing flows of finished products. And the spiral vertical roller table and the horizontal conveyor line for moving the selected finished products minimize the inefficient use of the labor of pickers and loaders.
The use of a combination of gravitational racks of increased capacity and traditional shelf racks in the mezzanine will make it possible to abandon the storage of finished products on the front pallet racks, as well as abolish the procedure for replenishing selection cells, saving area and labor, as well as ensure a smooth change of seasonal clothing collections: the new collection in gravitational storage cells as it were "displaces" the outdated collection. Due to the equipment of part of the warehouse with cantilever racks, there will be a significant decrease in the occupied area and labor costs for the processing of rolled materials.
Since it is also planned to implement the AXELOT WMS X5 system in the planned warehouse, the process description provides for the automation of business processes using WMS. Thanks to the recommendations in terms of topology, automation, storage systems and business processes, the area of the designed warehouse has been significantly reduced compared to the initial plans of the customer, which made it possible to preserve the existing 4-storey building on the construction site and organize a convenient space for maneuvering freight transport.
The developed project will allow placing in one building two warehouses - a warehouse of raw materials (rolled materials, fittings, packaging) and a warehouse of finished products (men's and women's clothing in bags and on shoulders plus accessories). Due to the use of current technologies and the proposed topology, a high level of quality and speed of product processing is ensured, taking into account the planned growth of turnover. In a relatively small area, it was possible to place all areas of quality control of raw materials and finished products, storage areas, sorting areas and waiting areas for various groups of goods. Due to the mezzanine and the construction mezzanine located above the receiving/shipping areas, almost the entire volume of the designed room is used.
As a result of the project, ELIS FASHION RUS received a detailed architectural and construction concept of the future warehouse, which will allow it to draw up a technically correct task for architectural design and avoid errors in the construction of the warehouse.
