Start of serial production of inspection equipment with AI function

The Diagnostics-M company, a resident of the Technopolice Moscow special economic zone (SEZ), is starting serial production of inspection equipment with an artificial intelligence function. The company plans to equip all produced models of conveyor-type introscopes with a neural network during 2024. This was announced on February 26, 2024 by the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Vladislav Ovchinsky.

A search introscope is an X-ray television installation that scans cargo and luggage for dangerous and prohibited items. They are used at train stations, airports, border zones and other crowded places.

The company has been a resident of the Technopolice Moscow special economic zone since 2019. During its operation, the company invested about 350 million rubles in the expansion and modernization of products. In 2024, the resident launches into mass production inspection introscopes equipped with an artificial intelligence system. The neural network, which was created by the specialists of the enterprise, can recognize dangerous and prohibited objects not only entirely, but also in the form of their separate fragments in any angles, - said Vladislav Ovchinsky.

The company brought the first models of installations, supplemented by AI, to the market in the spring of 2023. "Smart" introscopes have already passed test operation and confirmed the declared characteristics. As of February 2024, they are used at transport and many other strategic facilities in the country.

Five years ago, the company began developing a specialized neural network designed to significantly increase the efficiency of inspection equipment. This software is included in the register of the Russian POMincials of Russia. The level of localization of products in which the resident has invested his intellectual potential and material resources reaches 100 percent, "said Gennady Degtev, General Director of the Moscow Technopolice SEZ.

According to Pavel Lebedev, CEO of the enterprise, the company has developed an algorithm for detecting dangerous and prohibited items based on more than five million real X-ray images obtained using introscopes of its own production, used to inspect luggage at Russian transport facilities. This technology has opened up additional security opportunities - the device determines not only the outlines of dangerous items in luggage, but also their structure, which allows you to clearly distinguish dangerous and prohibited objects from their realistic layouts. Given the market interest in the product, it was decided to make the neural network standard software for all TC-SCAN series installations produced by the company.

Start-up of equipment production

On February 26, 2024, the press service of the Technopolice Moscow SEZ announced the launch of mass production of inspection equipment with artificial intelligence algorithms on its territory. We are talking about the project of the company "Diagnostics-M."

She began manufacturing an X-ray television installation that scans cargo and luggage for dangerous and prohibited items. Devices that are used at train stations, airports, border zones and other crowded places are supplemented by a neural network of the company's own design. It is argued that AI can recognize dangerous and prohibited objects not only in their entirety, but also in the form of their individual fragments in any angles.

Production of inspection equipment with artificial intelligence algorithms launched

According to Gennady Degtev, head of the Technopolice Moscow SEZ, the Diagnostics-M team has been creating this neural network for five years. Now this product has entered the market, it is included in the register of domestic software.

As noted by the general director of Diagnostics-M Pavel Lebedev, artificial intelligence is trained on the example of 5 million real X-ray images obtained using introscopes of its own production, used to inspect luggage at Russian transport facilities. According to Lebedev, the system determines not only the outlines of dangerous items in luggage, but also their structure, which makes it possible to clearly distinguish dangerous and prohibited objects from their realistic layouts. The head of Diagnostics-M said that such software for introscopes has no analogues in the world. The market showed interest in development, it was decided to make the neural network standard software for all installations of the TS-SCAN series produced by the company, Lebedev added.

It is noted that by the end of February 2024, Diagnostics-M during its existence invested about 350 million rubles in expanding the range of its products and improving it.[1]

2023: Artificial Intelligence Inspection Rig Announcement

"Diagnostics-M" developed and launched the production of a pilot version of the inspection installation with artificial intelligence. The "smart" introscope of the SEZ resident "Technopolice Moscow" is able to recognize not only the external contours, but also the internal contents of prohibited items, as well as their individual fragments in disassembled form. This was announced on May 23, 2023 by the head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy, which is part of the Complex of Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations of the capital, Vladislav Ovchinsky.

The resident of the SEZ "Technopolice Moscow" expanded its product line by integrating artificial intelligence into technologies already created and tested on the market, which provided a fundamentally different level of their capabilities. The "smart" introscope will be able to independently identify dangerous and prohibited items, which optimizes the work of inspection equipment operators and the level of public safety. As part of the implementation of projects, 56 additional jobs were created at the enterprise.

As reported, the inspection introscope is an X-ray television installation for scanning goods and luggage for dangerous and prohibited items. The company has equipped conveyor-type introscopes of the TS-SCAN series with an artificial intelligence function that can find dangerous and prohibited objects in their entirety and in the form of their individual fragments, as well as recognize the contours of the object itself and its internal contents.

The device identifies the object and gives the operator the appropriate information on the monitor screen: artificial intelligence highlights suspicious objects into a frame, indicating their name - bottle, can, knife, and so on. The neural network on a sample of over 5 million marked images is trained to recognize prohibited objects and their individual fragments in different angles.

The Diagnostics-M company has been a resident of the Alabushevo site of the Technopolice Moscow SEZ since 2019. The products of the enterprise, which replace imported analogues, are in demand by the market, including through constant modernization and innovation. Diagnostics-M worked for more than three years on a project to integrate artificial intelligence into inspection scanners using its own developments and material resources. In 2022 alone, the company invested over 105 million rubles in its production .

Diagnostics-M introduces smart technologies into its products, develops its own artificial intelligence systems and software that is included in the Russian software base. Among the recent developments of the company is the Radar-IQ territory protection system, capable of using artificial intelligence to detect and recognize threats located far beyond the perimeter of a protected facility - both on the ground and in the air, including any type of UAV.

Introscopes

"Smart" introscopes have already passed test operation at a number of facilities, including the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and confirmed all their declared characteristics. In May 2023, intellectual introscopes created by a resident of the capital's SEZ guard the entrance to the territory of the Moscow Kremlin, the airport in Lipetsk and a number of other strategically important facilities in Russia.

Artificial intelligence technology was developed by Diagnostics-M specialists for introscopes of the TS-SCAN series and is compatible only with the company's products. All newly manufactured inspection units of conveyor type have the possibility of using this solution. Many customers have already become interested in this product, including those who already operate the TS-SCAN installations, but want to update their software to a "smart" version. At the same time, the company's specialists do not stop there, but continue to refine the AI system, developing and improving its capabilities.
