2024: Product Announcement

On February 5, 2024, Avtotor announced the creation of its own brand of electric vehicles. It was named "Amberavto."

As the press service of Avtotor explains, Amber is amber in English. Thus, the name AmberAuto combines, as stated in a press release, "the two most noticeable components of the economic life of the Kaliningrad region" - amber and automotive production.

Avtotor
announced the creation of its own brand of electric vehicles

The Amberavto electric vehicle line will be launched by Avtotor during 2024. It is known that the model range is based on two- and four-seater compact electric vehicles. It is emphasized that they are created on the basis of their own developments and licensed engineering solutions that are the intellectual property of Avtotor. At the same time, technical and other details regarding future electric cars were not disclosed by February 5, 2024.

The holding only said that the new range of electric vehicles will include several cars, which are being worked on within the framework of technological cooperation with a number of partners. The models will be "deeply adapted" for operation in Russia and will have a high degree of localization of production, emphasized in Avtotor.

To organize production at the company's new production site in the Kaliningrad region, 12 new plants are being created, which will produce dozens of auto components, including electric motors, gearboxes, traction batteries, power electronics and others. As Avtotor assures, the cluster enterprises in the future will provide a full production cycle, starting from casting, ending with the production of individual elements of the interior of the car.

The project is being implemented within the framework of a special investment contract between Avtotor and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The volume of investments for the implementation of the announced plans exceeds 70 billion rubles.[1]
