By the end of 2025, the number of organic producers in the Russian Federation increased by 13%. As a result, the total number of certified manufacturers reached 261. These data were provided by experts from Roskachestvo on January 21, 2026. The most common categories of such products remain cereals, vodka and wild plants.
Roskachestvo recalls that the legal regulation of the industry is carried out by the Federal Law "On Organic Products...," which has been in effect since January 1, 2020. It establishes mandatory certification of manufacturers in accredited bodies, their inclusion in the Unified State Register of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, as well as registration in the register of Rosaccreditation. Since the law came into force, 753 certificates have been issued, which averages more than 100 documents annually.
Labeling products with the words "organic" or derived from it requires mandatory certification. For violation of the requirements of the law and misleading consumers regarding the environmental friendliness of the product, administrative liability is provided. Fines for manufacturers and sellers range from 100 to 500 thousand rubles.
From September 1, 2025, mandatory certification is also extended to the use of the terms "eco," "bio" and their derivatives in labeling. To confirm the organic status of the product, consumers are advised to take several steps. The product must be found in the register of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia by name or unique number, and its certificate must have the status of "valid." On the packaging can be placed the state sign of organic products in the form of a white leaf on a salad background.
An additional element is the QR code leading to information about the product in the Unified Register of the Ministry of Agriculture. Information about the certificate should also be available in the Rosaccreditation database.[1]

The export potential of the organic products sector, according to 2024, is estimated at ₽3,7 billion. Alexander Chumak noted that this figure is also still small, since representatives of small businesses mainly come to this area. The most promising areas for the export of Russian organic products, according to him, are the markets of China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. Three points of presence of Russian organic products have already been created in China.
In 2023, the Russian government approved a strategy for the development of organic production for the period until 2030. The document provides for a significant increase in indicators in this industry. It is planned that by 2030 the production of organic products will grow to ₽114,5 billion from ₽9,1 billion in 2021.
