2024: Presentation of "Control Program Verification Module for KOMPAS-3D"

ASCON on September 12, 2024 presented the "Module for verification of control programs for COMPASS-3D." This is a Russian system that works in conjunction with a SAM application, where control programs for CNC machines are developed.

The verifier is integrated with the ADEM CAM system for KOMPAS-3D, which allows you to organize the end-to-end design process. Based on the design-3D model of the product, the technologist creates an associative technological model (copies, rearranges, corrects) with the necessary allowances and additional constructions. Based on the resulting geometry, the NC Process Engineer designs the machining route by specifying equipment, tools, process sequences, and commands. Due to seamless integration, the technologist has the opportunity to check and debug the project in the "ECU Verification Module for COMPASS-3D."

The solution is designed to test control programs (SR) on virtual CNC equipment and allows you to simulate all aspects of the production process as close as possible to reality.

With the help of the module, the technologist will be able to check and work out the design of the special equipment in the technical process conditions at the design stage (before the start of its manufacture), as well as conduct "virtual testing" of the machine to assess its applicability for typical customer parts. This will reduce the cost of debugging and starting part repetitive production on the machine by transferring part of the setup and checks to the virtual machine. Verification of control programs will timely identify design and technological errors and prevent industrial emergencies.

The verifier simulates in the context of equipment of all types of machining: milling (2-5 axes), turning, turning-milling, multi-channel, erosion (2-4 axes), engraving (2-5 axes), contour cutting (2-5 axes), CNC press machining, additive machining.

Module capabilities:

  • development of ECU in the machine code of various CNC systems (Siemens, Heidenhain, Fanuc, etc.);
  • moving movable components of equipment and tools in accordance with ECU commands;
  • Simulate the removal of a workpiece material
  • control of collisions of system components machine - accessory - tool-article;
  • control of the target part clipping;
  • Quality control of the virtual semi-finished product (deviation of its geometry from the target geometry of the part) after assembly
  • checking the correctness of ECU and their performance on the equipment.

Using a verifier, you can create digital twins of any CNC equipment (milling, turning, robots, etc.), including based on the selection of typical kinematic diagrams, process components according to the EPTD structure, processing a tool with modeling all components of a tool assembly in maximum approximation to the structure of a real assembly.

On the basis of the verifier, a number of applied software modules are implemented for solving specialized problems, including the preparation and simulation of pipe bending production, automatic control of the bud in the mine using machine vision, etc.
